dancing leaves in a grand waltz wind
    little vortices of symmetry
    sway my way
as I escape the mundane world
along an October path of yellows and browns
I am lost in the hypnotic swirl of colour
the green of the leaf sacrificed to the march of autumn... read more

    Haiku:

    Each year the leaves fall
and wind scatters red, gold, brown
    always in the fall.

As the leaves begin to dance across the earth,
they bare the golden colors that will soon give way to Springs rebirth.
The fire of each sunset is cast against the knowledge of a morning dew,
And the fresh smell of each droplet fallen upon the Wondering Jew.
The fields along the roads hold hope for mouths that yearn for grain,
Like sorrel waves flowing passionately across the plain.
The Moon is vast and bright against an ebony sky,
And the dark of the evening brings out the wonder of the firefly.
I listen in awesome wonder, as nature speaks with every sound,
And am Thankful to God, for every year that Fall comes back around!

Read Keats' ode  "To Autumn". It is the last of his great odes and some think, the summing up of all that went before. Perhaps, but just by itself, it's wonderful.

    Twisted skeletons reach
    for new skye
    Crimson flesh turns beneath
    pale autumn sun shines
    Harvest moon waxing
    Octobres rain setts course
    thru All Saints Eve
    Soon gales Novembre and
    feasts fit for kings
The claw of the lion scratches
    thy breast, Forsaking thee
    old, Leaving young
    to submit

Bredavies - Hang on in there. I want to come up with a really MOVING poem about "the fall." Ahhh, here it comes...

The banana peel cared not for me.
There it lay. I did not see.
Slippery things those peels sure are.
Falls hurt like hell. It left a scar!

    Gus ;-)

Golden leaves like fire flicker in the air
    Bitter cold and blistering sun
    So strange
    Yet so tranquil
The peace of autumn reaches to you
    You're in its grasp
    Smells of nature
    Gusts of wind
    The leaves hang on
    So do you

Great hub topic! I enjoyed it!

Yes, I just did.  I love the fall as it appears you do too.  Fall brings with it two holidays...Halloween and Thanksgiving.  There is so much to write about in fall, don't you think?

Poems on seasons describe nature. Fall season is different from all others in that it brings colors and harvest. Falling leaves also add up to this season. read more
