My favorite poet is Susan Elliott.  Her poems range from romantic to stream of consciousness.  You can see some of her work on her blog, http://susanspoeticblogosphere.blogspot.com/.  I am sure she would appreciate a visit.

Have you ever read the history of the world in a metaphysical poem? This flee, that takes blood from your skin and gives it to me, as its next lover, is our priest. Joining us together. Will you marry me?

And over there, where the sun seeks the light of the compass pointing to the northern epicentre of the human condition. This is where you will find the freedom to fight empathy, and be who you are.

    J. Donne is a wonderful example as a metaphysical poet. He amongst others show what a man's mind can understand of every subject when put together in our emotional intelligence. It was a school assignment, and I passed it by writing my own poem. As a female writer, I think metaphysical poetry is an apt challenge, and useful message -making -device in our world.

My favorite poets:  John Donne, Edwin Morgan, W. H. Auden, G. O. Clark, and Todd Boss.

My favorite poem is probably John Donne's "A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning," though Edwin Morgan's "Message Clear" comes close.

I was always fond of Anne Sexton.  My favorite is 'Her Kind'.

But Plath's Daddy is stunning as well.

Tony Hoaglund is a contemporary poet whose work I love.  And I love Mary Oliver's poems.  Just to mention two.  :-)

and came up with the world in her hands . . . "
