Preferably no cursing, and the depth of language does not matter (eg. I understand big words)

A great book I found is the Steven King novel "Pet Sematary."  Plenty of action packed into it.  I have already read the book twice.

Couple of really great ones I've read recently are:

The Given Day by Dennis LeHayne
The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson

The first is fiction and absolutely action packed.  As soon as I closed it, I wanted to start it over.  There is some profanity, but not an offensive amount for the average reader.  The story is awesome.  It's by the man who wrote Shutter Island.

The other is a nonfiction account of the design and implementation of the Chicago World's Fair in 1893.  It's also an account of the actions of Herman Webster Mudgett, one of the first serial killers in America.

James Hardly Chase thriller novels...one example is "No Orchid for Miss Blandish". Read it and feel some thrill run down your spine!

Many. One though is "The Tiger", 'A True Story of Vengeance'. It had my heart beating fast near the end.

    Two of my favorites:
    "Sepulchre" by Kate Mosse.
"Cutting for Stone" by Abraham Verghese.
