What is the best fiction/nonfiction writing out there?
Some books work really well for their story telling qualities while other writers can write the most mundane things really well even if the story doesn't seem as interesting. I'm currently on a quest to find really good writing across various genres and would appreciate any advice into whose writing you think is good AND what makes that writing good. For instance, I just started reading A Game of Thrones and I can tell the writing quality is far superior to other writers of the same genre possibly because his writing is concise and descriptive. Any other suggestions?
The Bible because it spans over thousands of years, has many different contributors (authors), and is full of knowledge that is picked up and read, and followed by every single person on the planet, at one point or another, in their lifetimes.
You probably have not read much in the fantasy genre. You will be blown away by the writing of some of the authors I've profiled in the 2 hubs I just created. These are amazing authors who write both SF and fantasy, and I've picked out their best novels for you to enjoy:

I knew I was going to be a writer one day. Even my elementary school teacher said I had talent. When I was 22 I got a publishing contract...

Hi everyone,I love Terry Pratchett's fantasy comedy novels - although set in his fantasy Discworld, they often take on real world issues. It could be said that Terry is the greatest satirist of the 20th and 21st centuries.I'm also a big fan of David Eddings' Belgariad and Mallorean series, and...

Good writing won't save a bad story. Bad writing won't necessarily kill a good story. Thoughts?I read something along these lines recently and I can't remember who wrote it. King? Hemingway? There's no excuse for poor writing, but I'm thinking about the value of a good...
