    Someone once said
    It is better to have
    Loved and Lost than to
    have never loved at all.

I'd like to know who said that
so I can kick him in the balls.

That would be Alfred Lord Tennyson.  If you like, I'll help you dig him up.

To the heart love tightly cleaves
And hurts us so when its object leaves
Us stranded alone in our desire
No affectionate answer to our passionate fire
Yet it is not love that brings the pain
But desire that which we cannot regain
      Quench your desire with another
And heal your pain forever, brother

To the person who writes Jamaica Poems.  Grammatical correction:
You should have said Jamaican Poems.  Or, you could have said:
    "Poems about Jamaican love."
