gray - like gray skies that rain, gray prison walls, just kind of lifeless and boring...

I'm thinking gray. Not a nice silvery/steel gray, just a dull boring gray - almost colorless.

I see it as a combination of black and gray - flat colors not shine whatsoever.

Interesting question that seems to illicit same sensibilities. I say (feel, see)  gray as well.

I was going to say black and gray. It's funny to see everyone feels the same.

I'd say a very dark blue or even a dark bruised purple.

I thought about my answer before reading the others here. It was surprising that I was thinking a shade of gray with a slight purple tone, and  the others who answered here all said gray exept for one so far. .

Midnight grey/gray. Definitely. That's as gloomy as gloom can be.

A translucent but dull, muddy brown/grey that would let a person see shadows of life moving on the other side but it would be too thick fpr them to reach or step through.
