What existing word would you prefer having a different definition?
There used to be a clear distinction between "envy," the desire for what someone else has, and "jealousy," possessiveness about a person. The distinction has been lost, and I want it back!
Similarly, there used to be a difference between disinterested (fair, impartial, not biased) and uninterested (uncaring). I want that back, too!
It has become very hard to write with precision and know that one's audience will understand!
