What does 'writing' mean to you?

For me it is the actual 'me', a reflection of myself. Few lines of poems I write in between. I don't even publish them. They are a true reflection of myself

I like your explanation of writing being a reflection of yourself.  I would like to add that writing, to me, is an expression of our minds and our hearts and it is something to share with others when vocal words fall short.  It is a concrete method of witnessing the world and creating a path of information that is webbed with others who do the same.

Sometimes when one can not express in vocal words, the writing can bring out Real You. It is very difficult to hide the real personality while writing. While you can not take your words back, the writing allows you to erase and rewrite if you think that whatever you wrote first was not true picture of your ideas. That's why the vocal and outspoken individuals are considered to be good at heart while silent and reserve people are unpredictable. Writing is mix of heart and mind where sometime the mind guides the heart and even heart may snub the mind.

There are lot of things I wrote but did not made them publish...The thing I felt is I feel relieve after filtering my thoughts and putting the best and pure of it on a paper... There you can see the "mirror image" of your mind... smile

Writing means everything to me. Writing is life, I share my breath with its demands and exert my energy from its rewards. Every line of it is a nutritive element to my soul and its every word depicts and showcases each and every segment of my existence. I get inspired virtually by anything and at anytime. It is a passion so unquenchable in me and not writing entails donating blood to infirmities..

This Novel "The Soul Talkers" adequately explains what I mean here. Thanks for this wonderful question. I was typing almost the same question when hubpages directed me to this page.

What writing is many things to me.  I enjoy being creative with words, but writing is essential on many levels.  It is a crucial tool in today's society.  If it is quality writing it allows us to usefully communicate crucial truths and  needed information/facts for living well, as well as giving an opportunity for creative expression.  Because writing well can be learned, the caliber of an author's writing tells us how much he or she values a potential audience.  So, for me, writing includes a focus on working toward higher levels of ability.
