What is your favorite genre to write a hub on and why?
Evergreen, creative short story, poetry, how to, etc. We have so much to choose from in the categories HubPages offers us. Where does your interest lie when writing?
I love to write hubs on the family & the family dynamic. The family genre includes small, large, & childfree families. However, I find large & very large families the MOST interesting/controversial subject to write on. It is quite interesting to discuss the interactions & relationships between siblings in such families-how they most often have to raise themselves & each other because parents are not able to effectively give them the needed attention. Childfree families are interesting because our pronatalist society still considers childfree families to be incomplete. The family dynamic is yet another interesting subject. How parents regard their children can have either a positive or negative impact upon the children involved. My favorite topics regarding the family dynamic are birth order, parental favoritism, & the sibling dynamic.
Another topic which I love to write on is the subject of darkness in the human mindset, consciousness, & psychology. Humankind often views darkness in a negative light. Humans have a subconscious & unconscious fear of darkness as the human brain was hardwired to fear darkness in order to stay live. Also, there is a supernatural reason why humans fear darkness as it is oftentimes the harbinger for so-called evil entities. I simply love to write on topics which explores darkness in all its aspects, both good &............eerie.
I also love to write about astrology. Astrology is a deeply fascinating subject. I have written topics on general astrology & on specific signs such as Leo, Capricorn, & my favorite sign........Scorpio. Scorpio is a deeply fascinating sign. It is the darkest sign & it is also quite an extreme sign. I also write horror fiction, I simply love to explore...........THE DARK SIDE.
My goodness, GM - you have some really interesting interests. Thanks for sharing.
Poetry will always be my first choice Phyllis, but I enjoy writing a bit of everything now and I have to to keep my hubber score up because poetry generally doesn't rate well.
Poetry is my favorite, too, Jodah, but for the same reasons you have I write on other topics also.
I like to write about hard rock/heavy metal music and movies... because I like to listen to hard rock/heavy metal music, and I like to watch movies. Hey, they tell you to "write what you know."
Gender Relations. Everyone is touched by love or the lack of it.
I've always been fascinated by what motivates people to say "yes" to one person and " no" to another as well as what keeps people from pursuing happiness when they're in a unhappy relationship/marriage.
I encourage having complete awareness, realistic expectations, and self-empowerment within each of my articles.
Very interesting. I like your strong points of "complete awareness, realistic expectations, and self-empowerment " in your articles. Excellent aims.
I love to write hubs on folklore, especially about my native state. I would never write these self-effacing hubs if we had not produced one of the nation's most international presidents. He may have had a few warts, but he still plays better on the international scene than any of our former presidents have. Until he came along, nobody noticed that this little state was producing more than its share of intelligent people.
I also like writing about genealogy and plan to do more hubs about the unexpected surprises people run into. Another genre that I may write about is metaphysics. I've hesitated to do so because I don't have time right now to argue with fundamentalists Christians and atheists.
We already have a number of people who write excellent hubs on grammar, but I may write a few that bring out the legal aspects of whys and wherefores. Remember how people laughed at Clinton for saying that something depended on the definition of "is". Well, believe it. "IS is not always what you think it is.
Very interesting, MisB. I love folklore and used to write a lot of it on another site. Thanks for your contribution to this Q&A.
My favorite genre's include; Books, poetry, and How To's.
Because that's what most people search about, I suppose.
I have the most fun writing about topics that include science or math as the underlying theme. My best performing hubs are written this way.
That is good to know you do well with those subject matters. I was never very good at math.
It seems that a lot of people have a hard time with math so you aren't alone. Maybe that's also why those hubs tend to do well?
My favorite type of hub to write is humor/parody. I created a short series of 'supernatural monster' hubs where I pretended the monsters were real and I was giving advice on how to handle them. They were a lot of fun to write, but didn't get much traffic.
What an interesting concept. Thanks for sharing.
I stick with poetry because it can mean many different things to many different people. It makes for interesting comments.
I see poetry is your favorite as well. What is it that motivates you to post poetry?
I grew up surrounded by the arts and poetry has always been top of my list for the creation of hubs.I find it such a rich and rewarding subject. Not only can you be creative and write your own original poems, you can learn about the technical side of poetry, analyse the history, the way top poets go about their business. There's a whole world to explore, rich seams to mine!
I suppose I walk a thin line between creative writing and article writing, two completely contrasting genres.
I so agree with you on poetry, Chef. There is a lot more to it than just a poem. I love to study the different forms, the history, the masters, etc.
I have always enjoyed writing short stories. However for HubPages I've enjoyed writing about cats, writing, and my experiences with mental illness. My writing is more of a hobby as I tend to write in a haphazard fashion. I would like to expand and learn to write about a variety of things.
Those are good topics to write on. You will find other topics to appeal to you I am sure. Thanks for replying.
