Is anyone planning to enter the NaNoWriMo challenge starting in November?

I think it is an exciting challenge for anyone planning to work on a novel in November, but I am just wondering about those who have entered in the past, what was your experience of participating in this challenge to write 50,000 words in a month?  Thank you for answering and sharing about any past experience of participating in this National Novel Writing Month challenge or your plan to enter this November.  Image from Pixabay.

Hi Kristen, Wow, year 7!  That is awesome.  Maybe we will hear from others here on HP who are planning to enter, and you will have plenty of Nano buddies!  I will be cheering you on.

Nano buddies, I haven't had much luck with them, however, I'll add those interested...might be the determining factor for me? wink

Hello Jay,  That is so great!  Yes, it is a major task, I would think, to hit that word count ...I do hope there are many Nano buddies here to join in.  Best of luck to you.  I will be cheering you on too.

I am thinking about it but haven't decided yet. I actually don't want to write a novel but a non-fiction book I have had in my head for about 10 years, LOL! Is that allowed?

Hi Karen, that is what I want to do too but I believe I read it must be fiction.  Yes, I've had one in my head for about 10 years too. Please double-check the rules though! You should write it either way.

I'm almost set for my third NaNoWriMo effort in four years. All I need now is to stock up on jellybeans. The fifty thousand word target has always eluded me, but last year's effort did result in enough material to finish and release my eBook.
If anyone wants to be writing buddies, I am registered as Bronwyn Joy Elliott.
    Good luck to all NaNoWriMoers.

Hello Bronwyn, You are certainly quite adventurous. That much of a word count is a lot to write in one month.  Your efforts paid off with the publication of your eBook! I hope you have some buddies join in. Good luck.

    Hi Faith!!!
I have never entered, but I have wanted to over the years...and, like Karen Hellier, I want to write non-fiction.
November is a very busy month, so I have not tackled it.
I HAVE thought about just picking a month and just doing it for myself, trying to finish my non-fiction book in 30 days, and I probably will at some point.  I refuse to say, 'when things slow down...'  they never do.
I just need to make it a priority.
I do recall when I was in Toastmasters one of the members did the NaNowriMo challenge that November, and she gave a speech about it.
She made the deadline, and she said it changed her life, made her realize that there is nothing you cannot do if you make up your mind to do it.
I have never forgotten that, and I, being a writer and wanting to finish my book, MUST just commit.  That means clearing my calendar for a month...my problem being 'appointments'.  Also I am having foot surgery this week, nothing serious, but it is another 'interruption'.
I am totally cheering on the ones who have done this and shared with you.
I actually have a book all about the NaNowriMo that I must dig out as I am sure it will motivate me.
I hope this helps, dear Faith...I plan to email you this week...God bless, Sparklea

Hi Dear Lea, Oh, yes, for sure about just picking a month to finish your non-fiction book.  I look forward to reading it and I just know it will be a huge success.  That is something there to remember what your friend shared!  Yes, this helps a lot.

I'd love to. There are plenty of ideas, but November is such a busy month, so close to Christmas and the summer holidays, that I'll just have to cheer others on. Hope everyone who enters does really well.

Hi Bronwen, I do understand about how busy November is for sure. I know I wouldn't be able to do it but I am impressed with all those who will try! Yes, we can certainly support all who enter.

Feel really stupid in four years I have never heard of it. ( or maybe I did and forgot!) Can you give me a link to find out all about it?
    Thanks!

Oh, no need to feel that way as I didn't have a clue either until I read the last HP weekly email, which does have a link in it. You should think about it!
