Does poetry count? It is based on truth, but not what you'd call factual. I also have one short story which is fiction.

The majority of my hubs are fiction.  I don't earn a lot in Adsense, but that is not the reason I joined.  I enjoy fiction and it is a lot of fun.

For some examples you should check out dohn121 here on hubpages.  I think he has the best collection of fiction on this site.

I write more non-fiction than fiction on HP but one of my books in production is fiction and I removed 3 parts of that book from HP due to publication. must65gt, Dohn121 are a couple of great examples. smile

I am writing a series of stories told to me by someone else.  I just started, but I also plan to write a variety of other hubs.

    Your first story is impressive!

I don't do it regularly but I have done a couple of things. I am currently doing a series mixing historical letters with some fictional scenes.

I've done the odd bit of fiction just for fun.  I've also done 'tongue in cheek'(that sounds explicit!) romantic serial called 'Coffee'.  I publish another episode if someone bothers to comment on the last one.  I got to episode 3 and the comments stopped for well over a year but I now need to publish episode 5 (in time for Valentines Day).  Who knows if I'll ever complete it?

Fiction on hubpages won't make you rich but it is nice interacting with your audience!

Hi rebekah - I'm on the case I promise - I'm not sure about true love.  Perhaps a big disaster ending with the appartment block collapsing or a murder - Jean Claude lying in a pool of blood?  No, just kidding - I think true love and instant coffee sounds better!

life is fiction = depending on your point of view - it is all fiction!  so enjoy!  if you think you're writing factual stuff, look at it very, very closely!  (my humble opinion)

I have tried but fiction does not make any money.  Its fun but for all the work involved in writing what can you sell?  This is not to say that one just writes for money but its nice when you can kill two birds with one stone.

  23. NateSean profile image66

I'm posting the first draft of my vampire novel in addition to the other stories I've posted.

But I agree with a previous poster that fiction very rarely makes money. Even Sherrilyn Kenyon, a well known author once told someone that non-fiction was the best way to make money with writing.

I've written a few short stories as hubs. They score ok, and the one about my mother in law's diamond ring actually made some money.

Is there an upper limit for hub wordcount?  I have a couple of sci-fi short stories that I'm tired of trying to get published conventionally.  I was thinking of turning them into hubs but they're pretty long.

    1. 2uesday profile image65
2uesdayposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Hi - you can split them and post as parts or chapters; then add links at the end of each hub to the next one in the series or all in the series. Remember when arranging it as a hub that people read differently on a computer to a book. They need places to pause more frequently, and also a few images might help.

If you really want to publish it yourself you could go to a site that will publish for you either on line or in the format of your choice. Not talking about vanity press here I mean sites like the one with a woman's name. Search for a hub on this for more info I am sure someone must have written one.
      Good luck with this.

I posted a 60,000 word novel with no trouble. I was immediately informed by all 7 billion world inhabitants that doing such was a poor idea however.
