      In a manner of speaking, yes. The soul itself is pure, not rough. It is a direct aspect or spark of the Higher Consciousness, but yes, it comes into life for growth and experience ... it needs the Temple to glorify, or express the Divine. It is also on a journey to re-discover its true nature.

          The 'intellect' is of the mind. It can be and is most of the time, an enemy of the spiritual aspirant. It analyses, separates ... chops things up. The psychic Heart is by far the best. Salaam!
