Read the following interesting short story by Bill. I like his message of the story, "Old should not be a synonym for discarded." Here is the link:

      Hello Bill!
A beautiful story with a great message.
It's so important to have the elderly people in the family. It helps the grandchildren to have a balanced growth and upbringing. There is so much to learn from their experiences.
Thank you for sharing this engaging story with an important message.
Thank you Rosina for sharing this.
Best Wishes to both of you.

    Bill
I loved the way you showed each character's life.
We are not junk & should not be discarded.

There are times when one must go to assisted living facilities because the family just cannot handle them alone at home.

It's sad.  They often don't get their money's worth...& around here it's like $6500 monthly.
For that price...they should bectreated with respect and honor befitting a king or queen.

I often think we'd be better off going to a hotel with room service and enjoy all those perks.
Something to think about...sure it would be cheaper.

I'm all for keeping family at home if possible and we are definitely doing this with Ron, but it's a long road which requires lots of love & patience.

Not a bad idea, Brenda, going to a hotel with room service. In fact, I think that's a fantastic idea! smile Thanks for your comment.  You are rapidly becoming the de facto leader in HP Land.  I think it's a good transition and I know you will do well for everyone.

Thank you Chitrangada for showcasing Bill's superb piece of writing.  Other countries seem to honor their elderly more than most do in the U.S.  That was not always the case.  Why has this change happened?  I guess that is a question for sociologists and psychiatrists to answer.  In the past, families cared for their parents, grandparents, and extended family members when needed.  Multi-generational families can be a good thing benefiting all the generations.

Peggy, I don't know why it has happened, but I know it has, and I think it's a shame. I know the family dynamic has changed in the last fifty years. Perhaps because, in so many families, the mom and dad both have to work these days, and no one can take care of the grandparent??? I really don't know.

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment.  Happy Weekend to you!
