This is a well-written, thoughtful and thought-provoking article by Val. Thanks for posting it Brenda. Once again it causes us to pause and take stock of what we are all doing on HubPages, why we are here and why we stay.
Despite a good friend encouraging me to break away, for she fears that someone else is gaining an income on the back of my writing efforts, I carry on. I guess it's the support of fellow writers here that makes it. Although many familiar faces have disappeared and the disappearance of comments has changed things a little. But where there's a will, there's a way and those of us that are left have found ways to keep in touch and keep the community spirit going.
I would love to prove my friend wrong one day. So if anyone has any suggestions of how to boost traffic, they would be much appreciated. I even tweaked my bio yesterday, as per HP advice. I am even considering posting a photo, now that's breaking one of my long held principles!
Val.
You are so right.
I honestly don't care if any one recognizes my work, because it is written for me.
It is written to show the aspects of others...but that can never be shown if people don't accept my work.
With the constant chsnfes of Hubpages, I'm not sure what audience my work reaches.
I'm always happy to read yours....
You care my friend.
We are in a universe where we will meet one day.
Count on it.
Gotta love your sense of humour, Val. Anyone without one shouldn't be writing here or they are bound to get quite depressed. Like Brenda, I write primarily for myself and if anyone else enjoys it that is a welcome bonus. If I cared about the money I would have left years ago, but I'm still here after 13 years.
Thanks for sharing, Brenda.
You are welcome John.
Gotta love Val...he's one of us, rather he likes it or not
Right, John, I really appreciate Val's inimitable erudite deprecation of himself.
I love your article, Val. After 12 years of writing for this site, I've learned that it isn't about the money; I like to write a little about what I know a lot. Make sense? My articles are only about half of what they were ten years ago.
Nor this one...
I know you've been writing alot...
But inpost when i can

I have been on hubpages almost two months and I just enjoy writing. Is there others here who just want to write and are not concerned about the money?

I hear people say that and always wonder, when someone says that, is it actually all about the money?

I Have Made .48 In Two Weeks Is That Bad I'm New?I am new here so I was wondering if this is good. Also my score is at 83 when I started writing two weeks ago it was like 25. Just curious what it all means. Thanks.

I don't know why but the views of all articles written by me have gone down which suggests that HubPages and other sites associated with them are going down in the rankings. Note that I had several successful articles on multiple sites like LevelSkip and ToughNickel. Now everything has gone to...
