Your article brought back some of my childhood memories. I don't remember the Ladyvird series, but I read all of Nancy Drew. I read a lot as a child, so your article was enjoyable to read, Rosina. Thank you for sharing this.

Rosina, as Pamela mentioned, your article brought back some fond childhood memories of times when I voraciously used to read Hardy Boys,Nancy Drew, and the Three Investigators. These books were my staple diet well up to my 9th Form.

I once even sent a  fan letter to the author Carolyn Keene appreciating her work. Although the letter did not reach her, years later, I learned that author Carolyn Keene did not exist at all. She was a pen name created by a publication group known as Stratemeyer Syndicate that sold the Nancy Drew series written by various ghostwriters.

Thanks, Rosina, for sharing these wonderful childhood memories. Thanks, Pamela, for sharing Rosina's work.

That was interesting to know that Carolyn Keene didn't exist at all and the Nancy Drew series was written by various ghostwriters. Glad to know my article brought you some fond childhood memories like Pamela. Thank you so much for your comments, Ravi. Appreciated!!

Though I didn’t read the books that Rosina did, I enjoyed reading her article. It reminded me of the Enid Blyton books that I loved when I was a child. I know that some people criticize her books today, but I loved her stories while I was growing up.

    Hi Rosina!
Lovely read, and like others, thanks for reminding me of my childhood days. I have read and enjoyed Nancy Drew, but not read all of the books.
Enid Blyton’s Mystery and Adventure series were some of my most enjoyable reads. I loved Reading illustrated comics, in Hindi Panchatantra books, Amar Chitra Kathayein and any other Mystery books.
Thank you for sharing this well written and interesting article.
    Thank you Pamela for sharing.

Rosina, it was interesting to read about these series of books that meant so much to you growing up. I miss a time when I used to spend so much time reading my favourite books as well. Now most of my reading is fellow writers’ articles on the Internet.
Although I never really read a series of books like Nancy Drew, I read books by certain authors. I enjoyed Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan-Doyle, and books by Jack London like Call of the Wild and White Fang. This was interesting and nostalgic.
    Thank you for sharing, Pamela.

    Rosina
It was interesting to take a little glimpse into your childhood and the books you loved to read.
The ladybird sounds like a captivating series, but I've never heard of it.

Nancy Drew series was well known and I believe I read a few of them.

I don't recall them like you do.

I remember as a child anxiuosly awaiting the mail to deliver a magazine called Highlights for children and the Dr. Suess books.

Neither of them were difficult to read and I was very young.

I found Ravi's comment about the pen name interesting too...i had no idea.

Yes, the ladybird series was really a captivating series for English lessons at school. I like the fact that you read many of Nancy Drew stories. Yes Ravi's comment about the pen name was quite interesting. I have heard of Dr. Seuss but never read any of his books. Good, it seems like we were all avid readers at one point in our lives. Thank you for your insightful and thoughtful comments. I truly appreciate them, Brenda.

        Rosina...
Dr. Suess books were full of witty and clever rhymes  that usually pointed out something...a lesson to learn.
Not too many pages & colorful photos accompanied each one.

Green Eggs & Ham was simply about someone refusing to even taste his food...stating i do not like Green Eggs & Ham..i do not like them..Sam I Am.

Throughtout this book it simply shows all the places where he wont eat green eggs and ham.

Until at the end he finally agrees to try them and finds out he likes them.

As for books...i remember a childrens book called Fussbunny.

This was about a littke rabbit who was picky about what she would eat.

I was picky then and I'm still picky now.

That's a great compilation of interesting children's books. I am glad you read them. It's good to be picky because it means your choice is superior. LOL! Thanks Brenda for getting back to me again.
