Thanks for posting Angie's impassioned article Brenda!
Yes, our nation is a good cause for sacrifice. And, the more one learns and understands its history and ideals the easier it is to sacrifice.
Angie,
You've written a great article which reminds us about those individuals who make the ultimate sacrifice to protect our country ~ America.
247th Birthday is definitely worth a celebration.
I'm so glad you had that opportunity to take part in the Bicentennial at The Mahic Kingdom in Walt Disney World Theme Park in Florida.
The video is awesome and something you will cherish for all time.
When we're young, we don't seem to grasp the importance.
The link you your article "Til My Last Breath, I Will Defend This Land..." also displays a sacrifice willing to be made.
I love the picture of the little boy playing with a sparkler.
I sincerely hope that when he is older...we are still celebrating the birthday & independence of The United States.
We each play a part, even if we are not in the service, for we are citizens.
We can keep it alive with our voices and stand up for what we believe and treasure the memories.
Great write. I'll post a link in the word prompt article.
Thank you Brenda.
After submitting this, my mind starting spinning with thoughts of a follow-up.
I know that many of our fellow writers, here at HP, participants in these 'Word Prompt Challenges', are from other countries. Many countries are represented here at HP.
They too have their own stories of those who have or who would - lay down their lives for them and for their fellow countrymen! For their Country!!
Sadly, there are also those who cannot say the same.
They have fellow countrymen, who are as sacrificial lambs, living and dying for the sake of Dictators and dictatorships and lost causes.
Angie...
Sometimes that's what these word prompts do...they supply us with a few different areas we can expand upon as we write.
There are several countries which celebrate their own independence on different days...you wrote about the one you know The most about...that's a good thing.
Dictatorship does exists. People even ultimately sacrifice themselves in the name of Allah.
We all come from different parts of the world...which is great because we can write so diversly.
Let your mind spin. Thinking is good.
A wonderful and patriotic article, AB. Many of us feel the same way towards our own county and those who have fought to protect us. This is an excellent response to Brenda’s word prompt ‘sacrifice.’
Thanks for sharing the link, Brenda.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."I'm a little confused. God sent himself as the form of his only son to die for our sins and go back to heaven right after. I'm having...

Would you make the ultimate sacrifice for your country? Why or why not? Do you place more importance on what is good for yourself or for what is good for others and the United States?
