Thanks for the posting Venkat's work, Brenda!

Note: I think you said it was okay to use Venkat, Venkatachari? Correct me if I am incorrect.

      Venkat,

I read your work discovering it to be intriguing while catching my interest. Overall I get the jest of what Bhagavad Gita is about, however, I may in the future look deeper as there is a lot to it I imagine. Particularly at:

      (In order of priority)
Chapter 6 - Dhyana Yoga (meditation)
Chapter 12 - Bhakti Yoga, the path of Devotion & Faith
Chapter 4 - Jnana Yoga, the discipline of Wisdom

Of course, one-step-at-a-time with no hurry.

I enjoyed reading the article and found it easy to follow. Well written in my mind. I am glad you did write it.

The only thing I am unsure of is the usage of the word, 'Yoga'. I know what it means with practicing it with shall we say physical exercise combined with mediation. Can you help me out with that?

Yoga actually has different meanings. But, according to Krishna it is the union with God through action, knowledge, and devotion. So it can include self-control as the base for achieving any success in life. Whether it is to gain knowledge, or perform action, or practice devotion, the foundation is control of your body and mind. In this way, it includes these yogic exercises for your limbs, sensory organs, and mind.

But, most proponents of Yoga forget about the union with God and simply teach the yogic exercises of different postures.

Thanks, Venakat. With that knowledge I think I will look into Chapter 6 first as I indicated earlier. I plan on renewing my old practice of mediation that over the recent years has gone to the way side.

Glad to hear about it. I would like to know what is your method of doing meditation.

              Howdy, Venkat!

Today, renewing my interest with meditation and seeking to practice it once again while considering my Christian values I am following advice shared at WCCM - Meditation Community.

A global spiritual community united in the practice of meditation in the Christian tradition
              https://wccm.org/?gad_source=1&gcli … gKNNvD_BwE

I am at step one pretty much having just begun. As a guide I watched the following 9 minute video; How to Meditate.
              https://youtu.be/RvFneqPA8U8

From what I gathered reading your 'article' and your reply what Yoga means a key is discipline not only to establish the practice of doing it, maintaining the practice, yet opening the conduit to the higher realm as well as consciousness.

Yes, Tim. The primary requisite for Yoga is Discipline/Control. Control the sensory organs and mind to focus on something better.

I will go through your links to see how they do it.

Meanwhile, Congrats on starting the Meditation again. Wish you Good Luck.

I watched the YouTube video, but it is not quite appealing. The instructions are okay. One should be free from other thoughts. No disturbances should be there. Concentration takes time. Go on practicing daily and it will become a habit.

    Hello Venkatachari ji,
Your article about Bhagvad Geeta is very well written, as I have written in my previous comment.
As we know, that Geeta has guiding principles about how to live, how to behave, and act, in various situations of life.
I have been reading Geeta since my childhood and each time, I learn something new. It's very difficult to sum it all up in few words. Appreciate your efforts in writing this article to give an overview of Geeta, for those who don’t know much about it.
I think you should write to team HubPages about getting it featured. I don’t find any reason, why it should not be featured.
    Thank you for sharing.
    Thank you Brenda.

    Venkatachari,
    Your article,
"Bhagavad Gita - The Celestial Book" is something I've never heard about before, but it seems to be a story about God and how to attain our place beside him.

I find it interesting that this was originally a discussion that took place on a battlefield.

At least Prince Arjuna had compassion & didn't want friends and family fighting one another.
He asked & receives guidance from Krishna. (an incarnation of the divine).

This book consists of 18 chapters which deals with both ethical and moral standards.  It gives others the guidance they need during their journey through life.

The entire composition is in the form of dialogue between Arjuna & Krishna.

This books explains that the battle is not against people but between good and bad and we should  fight for righteousness.

I must say, I commend your efforts to explain the chapters included in this book which represents the divine.

I didn't realize that Yoga was so spiritual.  I simply thought it was a form of exercise.

There are so many  different things in this piece of work.  Meditation is something I am trying to learn, but according to this book it is one thing we should all do.

It seems like there are answers to help us be one with the divine and enter his kingdom when our soul departs.

This is explained as the body passes through different stages ~ childhood, youth, old age, and death.

I'm not sure how you could improve on this one article, but my suggestion is to break down this book into sections.

For instance, one complete article that only covers one chapter at a time, or maybe a couple at a time.

After telling the story of that chapter...then break it down with easy to understand words.  Show us exactly what the chapter means in our every day life today.

You could even make this a series.
    Posting a chapter each week.

Then perhaps, you could let people ask questions & answer them in your next post.

But for now, I've already posted a link in the word prompt article.

Great job. It seems like this is another great book, like the Bible.

Thanks, Brenda, for your detailed discussion of the significant points from Bhagavad Gita. I appreciate your grasping power. You summarized the entire message through your words.

Regarding, publishing a series on Bhagavad Gita, I thank you for the advice. I shall do it in due course. Wishing you my blessings.

        Venkatachari...
The series is only a suggestion.  You don't have to do it.

I just thought if you are passionate about this subject, it would be great to help others understand it.
Like...break down who and what Krishna is....
Is he God? Is he an Angel?  Did Arjuna see him in the spirit or the flesh ?

Make it simple, fun and interesting.

But only if it is something you want to do because writing should be fun to do.  It shouldn't be something we dread.

Okay, Brenda. I understood the point. It depends upon my mood and time. But, foremost is God's will. So, wait and see.

Thanks a lot for sharing this article here Brenda. And thanks Venkatachari-san for this beautifully written article. I was hooked right from the start where you explain the difference between Bhagavad and Bhagavadam - I honestly didn't know. I really liked how you have given chapter wise synopsis.

Thank you, Anupama. I appreciate your keenness. It is not possible to get into the hidden secrets of Bhagavad Gita. My endeavors are only a layman's efforts to get a glimpse of it. God bless you.
