My book, "EYES OF EMERALD" is selling better than I thought it was going to. I was told a 3-4 minute story by my dad three times over the years. Always telling him, "this should be a book or a movie." Not being a writer, I wrote it with a partner that is my best friend's son, he isn't a writer either.
We embellished the story, threw in some history and voila! A book was born. The genre is ROMANTIC TRAGEDY, the story is about a cousin of mine from NYC in the 1930's. She was the first of her family to be born in the USA, graduate from high school and fall for someone of a different culture.
What happened to this woman can only be described as AMAZING. The success of the book so far has been driven by Hubbers and another site that is very international. I have received promises from people in over 30 countries that they will purchase it. My heart beats faster from each comment I receive, and tears have been shed over many of the comments.
I thank everyone, even those that didn't buy it. If you commented on any of my Hubs, you have helped me. Harvey
Well done. Absolutely brilliant news.I seem to remember you wrote it in partnership with another writer - an even bigger challenge for most writers. You probably had great fun bouncing ideas off each other. Get writing the sequel. Wishing you every success for the future.
!!! Good News! I am an aspiring writer, and love to hear of other's success. I'll be putting a chapter of my own story here on Hub Pages to see how it flies.
That is fantastic! Congratualations! I know the thrill myself and the joy of being a published writer is one of the great satisfaction one can experience.
Wishing you the very best, my dear and lots of lots of sales may follow you
Petra, I hope you are right. I wish to honor my father, and raise money for charity with the book. I'll tell you a much greater feeling. I was a singer when younger. When a very large crowd gives you a staning ovation, and girl's throw themseles at you.... Well I think that said it all. H
Congratulations!! How exciting for you!! One day maybe I will be able to say that!
You are a such an inspiration, Harvey. Congrats! I am thrilled for you! I get so exciting just reading your post about it, I can only imagine how YOU must feel!
KCC, Thanks! I am thrilled, but I look at this as a beginning. When things alm down I have another book in the waiting and ten movies.
I know my father is smiling down on me, as is my mother. It will be more exciting when I find out how much the MS Society received. H
Congratulations and I too wish you many many books sales. You really must feel fantastic. It's also good knowing that Hubpages has *REAL writers that publish REAL books
*aimed at those that disparage the talent found on the site!
That is GREAT news Harvey and long may it keep selling for you. I love a good success story, many congrats.
What I'd really like to know is how you got it published. Did you find an agent and publisher, or did you self-publish. I have a few novel manuscripts I've sent out to agents and am wondering if self-publishing might be a viable route.
Fantastic news!!! Well done. Look forward to reading your hubs.
Congratulations, Harry! I am so thrilled with your success! Keep going and going...be the ever ready bunny! I wish you continued success!
This is quite an accomplishment but also an inspiration for all of us writers who think, forget it, too much trouble, too much competition, etc. You won't know until you try! Thanks and congratulations!
Congratulations Harvey, glad you are honoring your father in this way.

I understand that you are not supposed to self promote on Hub, but someone in management said it would be alright. Hopefully my book will inspire other Hubbers to write their own book. Hub can get known as, "the site where writers are born!" But I digress to my book.It is a story that my...

I just checked yesterday's ebay numbers and found that I had my first $100 day. October 2009 was my first serious attempt at making ebay money and I was thrilled to make about $90 off of my 30 hubs that month. Prior to that from April to September I made about $10 each month. So you can grow revenue...

My sons girl is overdue so they are going to induce labor tomorrow! I'm so excited, this will be our first grandbaby. They don't know if it's a boy or a girl so this is pretty cool for it to be a surprise!! (just like the old days before ultrasounds...lol!!)

At last! I have finally had my first Amazon sale. It took 384 click but I'm finally there, my conversion rate is now 0.26! Yay.Weirdly the first item I sold has nothing to do with the items I have put on my Hubs, but I'm not complaining. A sale is a sale.

So if you remember Hollywood came calling, and I answered the call. Neat Freaks is the show. Well this morning I got a call from a publicity agent for the show that says that the Today Show wants to interview me, and my daughter. Not sure which day, either the 4th or the...
