Have you ever heard the rain start - A Poem
Do you enjoy thunderstorms?
I love storms of all kinds. I love the pit-pat of the rain on my windows and the way the room shakes when thunder rolls through. But my ultimate favorite time of a storm is the very beginning.
And I don't mean a sprinkle that turns into a drizzle and then a steady rain and so on. I'm talking about that ozone smell right before it starts pouring. I'm talking about the electricity in the air that only seems to energize itself with the downpour.
I'm always excited when I time it perfectly and just get onto the porch as the clouds first open up.
A poem about my love for storms:
Have you ever heard the rain start
Have you ever heard the rain start,
seen the clouds part,
smelt the ozone split into two.
Electrons sizzle on the skin
when you let the sun
hide from you.
Flash!
→ And FLASH!
seconds pass
but there’s no crack.
A rumble sounds,
three shared growls,
and the clouds clash and rip.
Listen to that thunder! I was beyond happy to catch this on video.

You know it's happened in your house. Someone's thrown a fit. Held in a temper, or not held it in. Someone has stomped out of the room and swung a door shut so hard it slams, making you jump in your seat or where you stand. Whether adolescent or grow
