   What is the one luxury you couldn't do without?
   
   Perhaps it's a hot shower. A/C, flushing toilets, or a comfortable mattress...

   Flat iron, even if my short short hair is drying by the air, I can fix it with this...yippppp for electricity to do it with!!! and peanut butter.

   Electricity. Everything I do requires power. Computers, charging iPads, cameras, etc.  I hate it when the power goes out. Because our water in on a well with an electric pump, no power, no toilet flushing.  Gotta have the power.

      I have to agree w/ you. We can manage for a few days w/o panic, but I'd struggle after that!

      I am referring to things we take for granted like clean water, a comfy bed, plumbing, electricity, heat in winter, etc. If you can manage over the long term w/o them, you're a rarity today.

   I am akin to Jim TxMiller.
   The absence of 'luxuries' is freedom. It is hard to explain but when people give up what they think they need, their life is richer.
   I take cold showers, have no A/C, and  I sleep in a hammock. Some places I have been use a bucket of water to flush the toilet.
   If I had to pick, I would say, Vaselline.

   Toilet Paper.....yep.
   Think of any alternative, poisonous leaves, old clothing from goodwill, your hand...
   I just can't think of anything that would replace it that would be acceptable.
