Money Making Ideas

Introduction

My husband and I returned to the UK ten years ago, following four years of living and working in the Caribbean. On our arrival home, we were amazed by the changes that had taken place in the relatively short period we were away. House prices seemed ridiculously inflated, and everyone appeared to be living way above their means. We found out later that the majority of UK households were running on an average debt of around £25,000 which did not include mortgages.

Bank loans, credit card loans, store cards, and car loans, the list, was long. It isn't hard to see how the country got into the current mess. It doesn't matter who was ultimately responsible for this crises; the question is how to survive it and start living a better life. The young and the old alike are searching for ways to make and save money. Whether to supplement our income, pensions, or just to be able to afford something special now and then, it would be nice to earn a little extra cash.

I've written about many different ways to make and save money in my previous hubs, and decided to add a few more; I hope this will prove to be just as useful.

Earn money by Listening to Music

This is one for music lovers who are intrigued by the idea of making money while doing the things their already love to do. There are sites that will help you to do just that. Sites like slicethepie.com were created to give new musicians a chance to get their music reviewed and rated so that they can raise sufficient funds to make that remarkable first album. As a music scout, you will rate and write reviews that can earn you money, you may also be able to receive other benefits such as free music tracks, merchandise, and maybe even free access to performances and gigs.

Slice the pie and other similar sites allow you to earn money, not exactly life-changing amounts of money, but it is a way to add to your income. Your basic payment per review will be according to your ranking, and allows you to earn more when you submit long well-written reviews.

The better your review, the bigger the bonus payment. By giving a varied, constructed and detailed review, according to Slice the Pie, you will be helping the artists to improve their tracks, so not only do you get paid for listening to music, but you also have some input, although some of the tracks you review will be anonymous.

To start reviewing music online, all you have to do is register to receive a confirmation e-mail with an activation code, then follow the steps to change the password, and you are ready to start listening.

If you are an artist and would like to have your music reviewed, you can upload your tracks and receive reviews free on www.soundout.com this can get you exposure and radio placement, however, I strongly suggest you do your research.

Make money selling your photos.

You can make $200 - $2000 a week taking photographs in and around you own home and garden. Why not plan to make money on your holiday vacations? There is the potential to make money where ever you choose to travel.

You do not have to be a professional photographer to sell your photos. Get paid to do something you are already doing. When you take your holiday, automatically pack you camera, where ever you look there's a photo opportunity.

You can make money by taking pictures of your hometown; people love to buy pictures of where they live. By carrying your camera with you, you can seize the opportunity when something unexpected happens, and you find yourself in the right place at the right time. Yes, it can happen, so why no to you?

Make money with stock photos

With stock photography, you can earn money by taking simple pictures of the most mundane things and still make money. Try taking images of a chair, a table, or even your pets tabby cat.

Making money with stock photography is as easy as you can get, you don't even have to leave home. You can work from your easy chair in your living room, from your front porch or you back garden.

You can make use of ordinary objects such as vases, flower pots, a garden tools. You can take a simple everyday object and transform it into compelling and beautiful shots.

Make Money From Your Garden With Edible Flower.

Many restaurants and health food stores are now making use of edible flowers, an important point to remember is that not every flower is edible, many plants and flowers can make us very sick.

Restaurants use edible flowers in recipes, to make crystallised edible decoration and to garnish dishes.

Firstly, you need to find out what is edible and safe to consume and what you can sell, some flowers are used purely for decoration and are not edible, e.g. daffodils and azaleas that are beautiful and decorative but not safe to eat,

You do not need a large garden to grow these plants, but to get started you will need;

A stock of various popular edible flowers, when you grow from seeds,

you know exactly what you are getting.

Organic pesticide and fungicides.

A spot in you garden.

A compost pile to enrich your soil naturally.

Remember, do not use chemical agents on edible products

Harvest your crop in the morning when the temperature is cool and the plants are more hydrated.

To sell your product, you will need to take photographs, put together your growing information, research what similar products are selling for before pricing.

Creating a blog, or website will allow you to trade directly to households and food outlets.

Place ads on sites such as eBay and Craigslist.

  • Artichoke (flower bud)

Make Money By Renting Out Part of Your Garden

Save money by growing your fruits and vegetables or rent out part of your garden.

It is no longer the seasoned gardener and the desperately hard up who are growing their own fruits and vegs.

In the current economy, many of us are discovering our green fingers, the city folks are getting in on the act, where there is insufficient space to grow our own, many people are seeking to rent land elsewhere.

The queues for council allotments are getting longer. The city dwellers are short of available space, and are not prepared to wait for the exceptionally long list, therefore, you can charge more and still find keen tenants.

However, to do this, you will need to have sufficient spare space to be able to comfortable let part of it.

Access can also be an issue; a side gate will prevent tenants invading your private space to get to their plot.

Spareground.co.uk is a website where you can advertise your unused land and find tenants.

If you have a large plot of land, you can hire it out for parties, children's parties are a good idea, there will be no alcohol and none of the associated problems, including licensing, no late night noise and less mess.

Entertainers and catering can earn extra money, so why not make the whole experience a package deal in your garden for a nice little profit? Don't forget to provide some cover in case it rains, if you are currently living in the UK, I don't need to tell you that it will most definitely rain.

If you have a beautiful garden with plenty of space for sitting, you can offer a package including refreshment and a place to relax, you can charge in the £100s making this quite lucrative.
