   Your feelings on second chance offers on eBay?
   
   On eBay, a second chance offer is often given if a seller has more than one of an item in stock or if the person who buys their item by outbidding you does not pay. The seller might offer it to you for the price you were willing to pay. I've been offered quite a lot of stuff lately, and it's wigging me out. The second chance offers that I feel are legitimate don't come right after the end of the auction. Are these sellers doing something wonky to "up" the bids and then offering to sell to me when they realize I'm not paying more than I intended, or am I just paranoid?

   I can't comment on every situation, but back when I was regularly selling on eBay I would quite often send a second chance offer if I had more than one of an item, or if the original bidder ended up deciding they didn't want the item (or didn't pay for the item which can explain why it might not come right after). In my case the 2nd chance offer was completely legitimate.

   I think you are being paranoid.  Bottom line is do you want the item at that price?  Is it a fair deal?  Or are you only going to buy something when its a ridiculous discount?

      The price isn't the question. I'm wondering if some sellers create second accounts to up their bids to see if we're willing to spend more. I seem to get them often after bidding wars.

      I think people are getting tired of the whole bidding idea - getting sniped at the last minute and other tricks.  Just waiting around for the auction it end is a pain.  No doubt more and more end up with buy it now sales.
