Summertime is yard sale time. What are your tips for getting the best buys at a yard sale?
I love shopping at garage sales and yard sales and flea markets, but want to make the most of my money and get good buys.
I always look for rummage sales at churches, or go to city wide or neighborhood sales so I can hit multiples without using as much gas driving around from place to place. I also use local yard sale groups on Facebook.
If prices are ridiculously high at a yard sale or flea mark table I just move on because it is a waste of time in most cases and they will not deal, but worth a try if there is something specifically you see. *If there is a lot of things together you can figure is all one price but no price on them pick up the worst looking piece to ask the price. (This many times makes the price lower.) *If there is something you really want regardless of a flaw point out the flaw anyway and ask for a lower price. *If you are buying to resell give a price for everything at your price and ditch what you don't want; it's worth it and many just want rid of the lot and one big piece of money looks good. *For yard sales you will get the very best prices near the end of the sale as in second day or late morning. This is a great way to get it all for a song, too. They usually just want it gone and are tired of dealing with it and don't want to pack it up and put it away again. I made good money from yard sale item for many years and these are principles I used and most times it is better to let them make you the amount deal first because I found many times they went way below what I was willing to give. Neighborhood sales do save much on gas and travel but are usually just one day and pretty raked over I find if not there right on time. I usually avoided estate sales unless last day and hour because I think they always overprice. They will deal at the end too usually; or let you have all that is left for a good price. Still offer less than they offer; worth a try.

How do you have a garage/yard sale if you don't have a garage/yard?I live in an apartment, am moving, and don't have a place to hold a garage sale. Is it illegal to do it at a park?
