If you are talking about Hubpages, you earn money when people click on an ad in your article. It is only pennies per clicks so you need a very popular article to make much money.
Writing to make money is a tedious job. You can't expect to write one or even twenty articles and sustain a profitable income. Quality, original content is the key to making money with Hubpage articles. MY best advice is to write about things you are familiar with and that people may be interested in learning. Don't write about what you did today. Instead find a particular niche that intrigues many, if not thousands of viewers. There are several quality hubs within this site that can teach you different methods of maximizing your potential. Just do a search for "blogging", "how to make money on hubpages", "SEO". I am sure you will find all the information you desire.

In my first month on Medium, I have earned more than I have earned at Hubpages in the same period. Of course, my earnings at hubpages are now less than 10% of what they were a year or more ago. I'm not sure what is happening at hubpages, but its ranking on the web has fallen drastically. Put that...
