Do u think the choice to not take a husband's last name will become popular over the next 30 years?
Maybe we won't be getting married in 30 years because of high divorce rates and low values.
I think so. The woman does this out of Love and respect for her husband. Therefore, She is proud to take his last name. And vice-versa. He is SO proud to give it to her.
I think less and less women will and that makes me a little sad. I take it as an honor to have my husband's last name and couldn't imagine any other way. Sadly many women twist the name taking into being controlled and becoming a possession instead of taking it as an honor.
I don't think so. but probably the trend will be to take the name as hyphenated. The woman's maiden name - the husbands last name. This seems to be the popular trend of today. And it is better accepted by both the husband and their new wife who wants to maintain her previous identity as well.
It's hard to say because you will still have the problem of what surname the children will carry.
I had a Japanese friend whose sister married a caucasian man. Her father had died and so the man took the sister's Japanese last name when they married so the name would carry on. I thought that was a lovely gesture on his part.
I love my husband dearly and it goes far beyond names. I have been married 42 years and if I had it to do over again, I would keep my maiden name because it seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle and I was the last of my family too.
yes definately! As women become more and more independent in all walks of life, this trend, which was started by a male dominated society, will become a thing of the past

Why do women change their last name when they get married? Some people give me a hard time because I kept my maiden name. I can't really think of more than one good reason to change my name, to show "family belonging". Other than that... do you know of any other good reasons?
