Progressive was a popular term at the beginning of the previous century to describe those who believed, as progressives and liberals do now, that a powerful government is the best government.
U R in error. Libs don't believe in big gov. They do believe in efficient gov., but congress can't seem 2 get it together 2 make gov more efficient so they just keep blaming it on each other. Powerful is another story altogether. Both agree on that
Today's liberal political groups advocate nothing but big government. An idealistically defined "liberal", the word disconnected from popular speech and the reality of politics, may not believe in it, but liberals do in fact promote and create it.
