Why would Barbara Walters think Barack Obama would be the next messiah?

She said this during an interview with Piers Morgan.  I know that she's jewish, so what is it about Obama that she would recognize as the next messiah?  What a bizarre thing to say.  Certainly she wasn't speaking for the majority of the US population.

Yeah, it does beg the question, "What the heck WAS that woman smoking??"

She was just overwhelmed by his smooth dog ability to make us believe he was something he is not.  Kind of like that guy who got a tingle down his leg when he heard Obama making a speech.  Obama knew exactly how to push all the right buttons.  To bad he didn't have a clue what to do after pushing the button.

I think in Chrissy's case the tingle went up his leg Mike.

Thanks, maybe something else went down his leg?

Barbara Walters at times seems lucid these days but not too often.  Isn't that a symptom for some strange mental breakdown?

Well I'll bet if you listen closely to the interview she has been misquoted. They say she said "He made so many promises. We thought that he was going to be - I shouldn't say this at Christmastime, but the next messiah. And the whole ObamaCare, or whatever you want to call it, the Affordable Health[care] Act, it just hasn't worked for him. And he’s stumbled around on it and people feel very disappointed because they expected more."
Taking into account the context in which this was said she probably really said, "We thought that he was going to be - I shouldn't say this at Christmastime, but the next mess. I, ah, and the whole ObamaCare, or whatever you want to call it, the Affordable Health[care] Act, it just hasn't worked for him. And he’s stumbled around on it and people feel very disappointed because they expected more."
You have to admit that makes more sense - see the media spin, it never ends.

It seems as if Walters has a pretty low bar for defining messiahs then.
