Obama has now pardoned more criminals than all six previous presidents combined. Is this right?
It is common for U.S. presidents to issue presidential pardons during their last year in office. President Obama has taken this to new heights, and with his recent pardoning of 61 drug offenders, has now released nearly 250 criminals back into society, which is more than all six of his predecessors. Does this seem right to you?
Our prison system is the largest prison population in the world!
So why should we have people locked up for LIFE sentences for drugs? What makes it ok to lock up drug users who are only violating their own body for longer than we lock up some murderers and most rapists?
Over 50% FIFTY PERCENT of all people in prison are there for drugs. The government needs to stop wasting tax dollars on people for destroying their own bodies. Would anyone be ok if we started locking up people and wasting tax dollars those who ate fast food? What about drinking soda, smoking cigarettes, or drinking alcohol?
The war on drugs, and drug users is a pointless waste of money. The government should have no authority on people's bodies.
So yes, it is right in my opinion. Most of them were non violent, and those considered violent are only considered that because they had weapons on them that were not registered. They didn't actually hurt anyone at time of arrest as far as I can see. So I'd say even better would be to release ALL drug offenders and stop wasting my tax dollars on keeping them up for the rest of their lives!
He could release 3/4 of them. Only violent offenders and people who ruin other people's lives should be in there.
Apparently 46 as of july 2015. Interesting in 2013 he had less than the previous presidents. I guess that is why they have 2nd terms.
It is also interesting that Obama keeps MJ as a class 1 drug along with the real hard stuff.
Each year,
about 6,200 people are sent to federal prisons for growing, trafficking, or possessing marijuana.
Virtually all federal marijuana offenders are convicted of trafficking or growing marijuana, rather than simple possession
(i.e., possessing without intent to distribute) of the drug.
There are more people sentenced to federal prison for marijuana than for any other type of drug, including crack cocaine, powder cocaine,
heroin,
and methamphetamine
Yes, it's wonderful! It shows his humanity and love...something completely lacking in about 13% of this country. Petty crimes used to make money for the system. Lives ruined. Families destroyed. Unbelievable cruelty and despair. Thank you for showing some humanity in a sea of reptiles.
Only if he did extensive research on all of them to see if they really have turned their lives around.
It's the system that needs turning around. People are thrown into that hell hole for the equivalent of having a cocktail after dinner. It's terrorism, plain and simple. We are terrorized on daily basis.Afraid to breathe.Obama let a few of them breathe
Well, it really depends on the criminal that he pardon. For example, if he is a homeless person living on the street for years, close to starving to death and only did petty theft, stealing a sandwich, I think it is alright for the President to pardon him (although I would say that homeless guy, is probably better off, in prison, at least, he have a place to sleep during the night and get three meals a day, there.)
It's mostly people doing or selling drugs. Once they nab you, money is involved. If you don't have any, to jail you go. And if you get out, you still owe money. Don't have any, back to jail you go. Can pay up? Freedom. Evils of capitalism. Money=god
What if it's the only means to feed their families? There are sectors right here in America that have zero opportunity BUT the underground market. Probably one in a thousand make it out, most never do. Poverty is the real crime in America. No excuse
Even if it to feed his family drug dealing is too much, If he is in so much poverty, I can accept him/her doing shop lifting, prostitution, but drug dealing is going too far.
Selling their body is ok to you but not selling a plant?
Prostitution, might not be moral, but at least they are not hurting anybody. Selling drugs, is hurting people and society, not to mention funding the Taliban
Your body is a temple of God and should not be abused. Who cares about plants?
Peter, HP does not provide enough comment space for me to even begin on the many reason I disagree. Completely flabbergasted!

Obama is a fool. The man has absolutely no leadership ability, he is in way over his head, ISIS is cleaning his clock, Putin is treating him like a bitch, the Iranians are ripping him off, he didn't even have the common sense to come down hard on the rioters in Ferguson and Baltimore, he allowed...
