Women in the military have a war on their hands. According to a Pentagon report, in 2012, 26000 military women were raped. They constantly have be twice and thrice as good to be considered competent and noteworthy by their male counterparts. Even though they have proven themselves to be exemplary, many are disparaged and disrespected solely because they are women. Also, women in the military have been subjected to egregious behavior on the part of men such as general and/or sexual harassment and rape.
Yes, many military women have been subjected to rape. This is totally uncalled in any circumstances, especially the armed forces. Women in the military have MORE to fear from their male counterparts than from enemies. Yes, women are not safe in our military sad to say. Oftentimes, when the harassment and/or rape is reported to the authorities, it is ignored and the perpetrator is protected while the victim is demonized. Some military men believe that because they are male, they can use their gender prerogative to treat women as inferiors. THIS GOT TO STOP! Let's discuss this issue.
It is a sad state of affairs. That men CHOOSE rape over controlling themselves. And that we as a society let them get away with it.
