believe that the IRS should be dismantled entirely? Why? Why not?
An America without tax would not be a place I would want to live, personally.
But the tax code needs to be radically simplified.
Personally, I'd like to dismantle it, at least in the form it is in.
A flat tax, applicable to anyone either holding a job or over the age of 18 seems appropriate. Deductions for children, nothing else.
Imagine the savings just in bureaucracy. In New Zealand if you have only salary incomes, and your employers declared they paid you that income, you don't need to even fill in a tax return.
Imagine the people out of a job, being forced to do something actually productive in their life! What could the thousands and thousands of tax lawyers and IRS employees accomplish if they were producing something? Another trip to the moon? Another Hoover Dam or a second interstate highway system?
A National Sales Tax - everybody who buys something pays the tax. Boom - You're done. Next?
