Do you contend that American society has become LESS patriotic since the 1960s?  Do you maintain that since the 1960s, there are Americans who view America in a negative light?   What makes some factions of Americans view patriotic Americans as right-wing, reactionary, & even jingoistic?  Do you argue that many Americans are becoming more globalist in orientation?  Why? Why not?

Patriotism and nationalism are two different things.  Googling photos of Presidents to see how many pictures you can find of them waving a flag is not patriotism, it is nationalism.  Personally, I find nationalism to be off putting.

This definition appears when you google patriotism vs nationalism:

"The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does, and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does ; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility while the second a feeling of blind arrogance that leads to a war ."

It is hard to be the world's preeminent superpower and avoid the concept of 'globalism'. Technology plays a role in our global economy, with business conducted on a global scale. How do you put the genie back into the bottle? Conservatives are always silly to think that we really go back to an AMERICA that can never be again.

It has to end like all empire s who turn to the dark side..
Or it would destroy mankind all together other wise.

The worst virtue is greed, it always ends up destroying it's self as unsustainable.

How quickly we put , and should ,  all our leaders into a cubby hole , The sad truth though ;   Is when day to day a leader of the free world acts more like a  king of the world  and despises his own home .   It is in  the term  of a leaders  patriotism or nationalism that's most important , If they aren't  then they aren't  .    And Pres. Obama  isn't !

Where did this idea come from that Pres. Obama hates America?  Just saying something over and over doesn't make it true.  Just because he's not willing to stay at war indefinitely when little to nothing has been accomplished by it in a decade and a half, doesn't mean he hates the country.  It may mean he loves young Americans too much to keep sending them out to die for nothing.

And in the 1960s a generation forced a stop to the Vietnam War - not because they hated America, but because they hated seeing drafted Americans die for nothing.  But they were accused of hating America.  Some things never change.
