    i don't know if we are becoming a socialist country simply because our economy rests in the hands of banks and not the people. i can say that the capitalist way of life is beginning to implode on itself and create more death than wealth. We are still attached to the idea of creating wealth from death better yet.

    The real question here is, if we became a socialist country, would you still be happy to call yourself an American. And, would it make your life any worse?

    every country has its own brand of totalitarianism, blending various aspects of socialism, fascism, communism, corporatism.  This country is primarily corporatism and fascism.

    It's not a question of "becoming".  We are there.
