Not jealous. Just not sure how he can justify speaking to the less fortunate masses when he's not one of them.

Honestly though, twenty three million a year, for spouting crap? Inaccurate crap? (is there any other kind of crap?)

Like I said I'm sure he chuckles all the way to the bank or happily checks his account balance at the end of every program.

Nahhhh, don't have time to be jealous of him or anyone else. I just don't understand fear and hate mongering, of which I believe he is a strong instigator. And to be fair, I think they are on both sides of the isle, not just conservatives. Fear and hate never educated the public with facts to help them make intelligent decisions. That's all I'm really getting at.

Sorry I got caught up in Texas Tailgaters a weekly pregame show. Its funny I don't see conservatives constantly calling liberals haters! We all know they do hate but pointing it out seems juvenile, I don't think Beck hates Obama personally I think he hates his policies! People like Janeen Garafolo just hate there is no other way to put it! Anyway just wanted to say that. Football about to come on UT vs UTEP should be a route, but you never know!

I have never been to his site. I did read your Hub on this subject last night, it was pretty good. Just have one question, you mentioned a gas shortage, what gas shortage were you talking about?

    1. LiamBean profile image87
LiamBeanposted 8 years agoin reply to this

I don't know your age, and this may be before your time, but back in the seventies OPEC declared an oil embargo. Nearly every gas station in the U.S. started limiting purchases to ten gallons. Some would only sell to car plates with even numbers on even days and odd numbers on odd days. This is right when the Japanese auto got a foothold here. Until then they were just a curiosity.

In my opinion Detroit never really recovered from that.

        1. LiamBean profile image87
LiamBeanposted 8 years agoin reply to this

That didn't help either and I still haven't heard anything solid about why it happened. A bunch of opinions from OPEC setting limits to the damage to offshore oil platforms during the hurricanes, but for every opinion there was someone saying "no, that wasn't it."

There was no shortage of gas where I am. No lines plenty of fuel, it just cost too much! I think it had more to do with the oil speculators!

LiamBeanposted 8 years agoin reply to this

Texan. I used to live there (in Houston). I worked at a gas station in my teens. I still have vivid memories of a "gas war" where we actually got down to a quarter a gallon for gas. Twenty-five cents a gallon!!!

Looking back and comparing to today it's like a "Twilight Zone" episode.

Obama approved a loan to Brazil’s quasi-public national oil company, Petrobras, which will use the money for the exploration and drilling of 270 sites in the Gulf of Mexico and over 200 more off the coast of Brazil itself.
For those not knowing much about Petrobras, here are a few interesting facts:
Petrobras’ largest individual shareholder, by far, is none other than leftist billionaire George Soros, whose hedge fund, by some remarkable coincidence, increased its holdings in Petrobras just prior to Obama’s loan announcement.

I agree. But some insist. You see, these days, if you say there is a chance that racism exists you are considered a racist. If you are black and have ever disagreed with what a white person has done and speak out...you are racist.

Obama has never called anyone who has criticized him a racist. Some have, and I disagree with that. 99% of Obama's critics are probably not racist.

Glenn is driving a GM hybrid as a loaner.  He endorses GM and they give him different cars to test drive.

I'd say he does that a lot. Wonder if he's going to tell everyone how great it is on his radio program? Wonder what GM is paying him to "flip-flop?"

He didn't flip-flop. He flipped. The Conservative hallmark is the willingness and mental acuity to change one's mind based on new facts and experiences.

If he comes back tomorrow and dismisses hybrid vehicles based on his personal use of a current model, then we will all learn from his hands-on encounter.

Heaven help us if we are reduced to partisan attacks on people who change their mind and can support their decision.

He is getting closer to the edge all the time, headed for a fall.

First, I want the agree with A Texan, that global warming is a farce.  The planet's climate fluctuates. It just does. Secondly, I forget who said it, but, Detroit did "catch up" to Japanese fuel economy.  I used to sell Chevy vehicles and although I was not a fan of them, at first, they did get very good fuel mileage. If I remember correctly, the base model Cobalt got better mileage than the base model Civic.  It was also much cheaper and had comparable equipment.  The same goes for Toyota. A hybrid Tahoe had the same (city) economy rating as a Corolla(sp).  If you compare websites or window stickers, you will see that they never really fall behind.  I believe the main reason for this thinking is that American car companies are known for making trucks, and performance cars.  When you think of Dodge, you think of a truck or a Viper.  Most people don't think of a Neon.  Also, I don't believe Beck changed his mind about hybrids.  If you were being paid by a company, chances are you wouldn't bad-mouth their product either.  Just my four cents.  (Two is never enough.)
