Giving to the Homeless
If you gave a homeless person a quarter and they asked you for a dollar instead, would you give it to them?
Depends on the circumstances. I don't want to give advice that could get someone hurt. In a safe environment, tell the person you don't have much money to give, but you wanted to give something. In other words, it's a good lesson for the homeless person to learn - to be thankful for anything given to help them.
That's good advice. Thanks for participating. I have a number of friends who have been asked for more money.
I keep Mcdonalds and Hardees Gift certificates in my car for this very thing. I work with the homeless and hungry on a daily basis and I rarely give money.
If I had the dollar I would. Keep this question in mind, " What if God was one of us"?
Personally, when I hand a homeless person money, I always hand him or her at least a dollar, even on those occasions when such a person asks me for only a quarter.

With the recession going on, I have noticed several new cardboard signs asking for food, money or gas. How do you distinguish the real from the fake, and what should you do to help them?
