Was the killing of Osama bin Laden a serious violation of international law ?
Are people generally of the opinion that the killing of Osama bin Laden was a serious violation of international law in terms of the rules of engagement for asymmetrical war, the theatre of operation of Operation Enduring Freedom and the sovereignty of Pakistan. ?
De facto international law say a government can kill who ever they want if they are powerful enough to get away with it. De jure international law says, maybe it's OK to kill the likes of bin Laden--it depends...Love the question...the U.S. kills people in a half-dozen nations on a regular basis--Yeman, Iran, Somalia, Pakistan, Afganistan, Syria, Lebanon, while supporting murder in Palestine, Columbia, and other places. We haven't shot our own people in big numbers since the 1930s, when Hoover shot the veterans and their families.
In war no law applies. One has a right to kill the enemy irrespective of what law has to say about it.
Whether Osama bin Laden actually planned and masterminded the bombing or demolition of the World Trade Center is not know. However he blatantly and shamelessly accepted responsibility for it and expressed pride in the event.
Such a barbarian has to be replied in his own language of destruction. I as an Indian citizen am proud of what the Government of the U.S. did.
it would only be violation if Osama really was dead, I'm not convinced, America walk in, say they've killed Osama bin ladin and every1 believes it?? That's stupid we should have asked for his head on a pike! But no they don't show him at all?? And no one questions?? Not even Pakistan, they went quiet right after it! We all know why that is,America paid them off! Pathetic! And to answer your question, it is wrong because America came onto Pakistani soil without their permission so in international law they are wrong to do so.
