Do Republican women look more feminine than Democrat women?

If a new academic study is to be believed, Republican women politicians look more feminine than their Democratic counterparts. The study, by two UCLA researchers, found that female politicians with what are described as stereotypically feminine features tended to be Republicans, and the reverse was also true for Democratic women. GOP women rated, on average, twice as stereotypically feminine as Democrats.

one small explanation could be that the republican party has so greatly emphasized the traditional american image of women as motherly, effeminate, and dutiful housewives for so long.  that's not to say there aren't exceptions nor that democrats haven't been the same way to a degree, but, historically, women tend to be viewed differently in both parties.

The GOP is more concerned with traditional sex roles. In other words a woman should look a certain way. That is what I would expect. That was also the theory of the researchers. I suppose conservatives might argue that is a good thing, I would argue that we should worry about the content of their character more than we worry about them having 'proper' facial proportions.

Also, I didn't see anything mentioned about accounting for race. Are The ideal feminine facial proportions skewed Caucasion? That would mess up the results, since the GOP has few if any non-Caucasion women in the House. Have they ever?

So junkseller, you think the GOP selects the women they want to be republicans and women are mindless and don't think for themselves? So I suppose the democrats select women who look like men and make them democrats? Junkseller, you are a moron.

Did you even read anything about the study? The traditional sex roles was a theory of the researchers. It makes sense to me, I wasn't stating it as gospel. Please don't waste my time with strawmen and name-calling.

You said "The GOP is concerned with traditional sex roles" That certainly sounds like you believe the GOP picks what women they want to be republicans and the women  don't choose their party. The study hasn't been published yet so you know nothing.

The study looked at women in the House of Rep. Voters DO pick them. The comment about traditional sex roles was from the researchers. http://www.mnn.com/lifestyle/arts-cultu … study-says

Josak - Surely you aren't that dense?  But then maybe you are.  YOU, son, are the source of your senseless remarks.  Most of us here refer to you, if we have to, as one of the village dolts who troll along happily not making any sense.

Conservative women are often in tune with with their Christianity. God made us equal, but He made us different for good reasons. When a woman is in tune with who she is as a woman, and the equal, but different counterbalance to men, she is very confident in her femaleness and it shows through. Even if we are not drop dead beautiful, we still feel very feminine and attractive.

I find it amazing that everyone seems to agree with the "findings" of a study they haven't actually seen and pontificate about the slant the media is giving it when the study is not the question - the question is "Do Republican women look more feminine than Democrat women?" I didn't ask if Republican women politicians look more feminine than Democrat women  politicians and I only referred to the study as "if it is to be believed" in comment - not the question.

So most answerers to the question immediately jumped to their biases about parties instead of actually answering what was asked - very scientific? Personally I don't believe Republican women (not only politicians) are any more feminine than Democrat women in general, maybe I'm wrong and I wonder what such a study would show....but at least I answered the question that was asked...that is scientific.
