There have been TV stories and articles written about Policemen and the use of Tasers on individuals. Where a taser is safer than a policeman using a gun on someone, what are the effects of the electrical current???
Policemen are quick to Taser an individual. There have been many reports of Policemen using/abusing the Taser on people when it is not necessary. What should the consequences be for this? Should there be any consequences?
Being a career electrician, I have been trained to the effects of electrical current in the body. Whether the electrical currect is AC or DC currect it is extremely hazardous to ones health. When any electrical current goes through the heart of an individual that person is very susceptible to a heart attack! Usually it is an 48-72 hour window, but that is just an average. I have been hit by electrical current due to my career choice. It is not pleasant. It is dangerous and harmful.
I believe this is an open window for a "Barney Fife" type of pistol happy police officer taking unnecessary action against a person that could cause the death and they are protected by the law.
A policeman that uses a Taser on any person should be held just accountable as one that shoots a person with a loaded gun. The use of a Taser may not cause immediate death, but it could still result in death as an after-effect!
I would suggest that any officer that uses a Taser be on administrative leave for a time period without pay to make them think long and hard before going "Barney Fife" on anyone.
Why am I bringing this up? Electrical current can be deadly!
Tasers can be deadly. Policemen are abusing this weapon. There is too much Free use of this weapon without considering the consequences.
Don't tase me bro!
Yeah of course it can be dangerous. Maybe more training on them? Or only use a certain brand with a particular frequency? I'm not sure Michael.
I have a friend who is a cop. He has bragged about his use of his taser. I have warned him about the harm of this and he laughed and said he was told to use it. He and his cop buddies seem to get a kick at using their tasers.
Maybe a lawsuit for a wrongful death will get his attention
Yeah...the police seems to be running a little wild since George dubya and his patriot act.
We (my wife and I) have read of Taser-induced deaths more than once. Since we've moved a few times in the past several years, I won't swear to the exact locations where this occurred, but seems to me at least one was in Montana and one in Colorado.
I personally don't see the Taser as being one bit less risky than a firearm. Taser itself has had to face at least a portion of this risk due to the number of deaths their units have produced: The company has now put out a recommendation to police that they (the law enforcement folks) DO NOT AIM FOR THE CHEST.
Wow. So, the cop now gets to choose which limb to Tase? Surely a head shot is not generally authorized. Maybe they can specialize their product a bit, put out versions designed to be really specific--models like the Toe Taser, Elbow Tip Taser, Hip Taser, etc....
Here we go again. I'm surprised Michael, as an electrician you should know better. Tasers and stun guns work in one of two ways.
Its amps that kill people not voltage. All voltage does is sound scary. It takes about 1 amp to kill someone. A stun gun or Taser works with milliamps, 3 or 4 milliamps to be precise. Here's the difference 1 amp kills, 0.003 amps stun guns. Tasers are very good at stopping people and not killing them. You might want to limit cops to just having their sidearms, but I for one, am grateful that they have another option than their service pistol.
The problem is...cops are freely using the Taser. They even brag about using it. Tasers can be as deadly as a gun shot to some people. This should be unconstitutional the way it is used.
What about a person with a pace-maker? It can shout it down, short-circuit it? Electrical current is deadly!!!!!
I say it is murder to TASER a person without probable cause. A person without a weapon pointed at an Officer is Murder. Policemen joke about it, that is a criminal offense. I am trying to get attention to this with my local congressmen, but to no avail.
You might want to do some reading before you make unfounded accusations. Taser is manufactured by a private company. If their product had been linked to any deaths, they'd have been sued into oblivion. Look what happened to Corning when their breast implants were shown to have killed people. Pfft. Out of business.

There's plenty of independent studies done of Tasers and their effects on the human body. I'd read some of it if I were you.
Tasers are dangerous.
The police where I live use them at the drop of a hat.Several people have died recently because they were tasered.
I don't know why they are used. People have underlying heart probs and it gets thrown out of whack. Scary indeed.
It is better than bullets, but must only be used as a last resort, when all else fails x
well... how would your hoofs manage to pull the ring? d_||_b
I have a point and you have a hoof! What sort of people are we? lol
I'd say we were out of the box for beginners.....
why, they rounding you up for the big ..err..field in the sky?
Yeah, kinda like telling Ol' Yeller that they're just taking him out back for a walk.
26 people in Canada died as a result of using Tasers! It's statistics. Police use them too often and sometimes needlessly. They should invent something less brutal. Thay often use them on an unarmed person when there is no immediate danger to anybody. Not enough research, very-very brutal! I am sure there are some other means they could use. A person running from police already under stress and they add more by tasering crazy guy. He is still human being you know. Not an animal for slaughter.
Taser are safe, provided that the units pass strict guidelines. Those who don't use safety guidelines, promote execution type Law Enforcement and is detrimental to the overall health of society.
As long as Tasers are not creating deaths, because they are proplerly used and made, then there is no reason for police to not carry or use their tasers, when necessary, such as drug induced violent criminals, who are not safe to get near, but need to be apprehended. Tasers allow for the police to incapacitate a person, much easier, without having to use physical brute force, which can not be controlled once started.
Humans, doesn't matter who you are, when rage gets the best of you, you are capable of killing another person, without maintaining control of your actions. Some people can control their anger, but as society has already shown from history, not everyone can do it.
Thank you for bringing up this topis. Have a Great Day!
Actually, lamb chops are delicious tasting. I cannot help it, if it happens to be one of your legs. You have three others, and besides, you cannot be every sheep in your picture, but only one. So, we can eat one of your family or friends, whichever you get to keep your limbs.
shall I do the sacrificial slaying? How do you like it? Fried, roasted or grilled? xx
I thought you had my back, oh, yeah my back leg, thanks much...
did you know that if a sheep falls on its back, it cant get back up? It will just lie there either until the farmer comes and picks it up or dies.
*interesting fact no 344*
--I was serious, guys, and you are just a bunch of jokers, shame on you! My close relative has been tasered, he is not a criminal, just behaved like an idiot, but still it is not pretty, believe me.
*Fact no 366... sheeps are easier to sacrifice when on their backs!*
I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling by your strange fascination with the plight of my fellow sheepies.
I want nothing to do with cops, any of their weapons, and them using any on me..so that is my thought about tasers..
I mean, huh? I know what this is....I'm sooooo beautiful that people feel the need to sacrifice me out of frustration. Yeah, that's it.
have you seen my new topic! hehehehehehehehe lolol...xxx
I am wetting myself with laughter... really funny! Denno is written in the book of lamb... hubpages lol
You are just soooooo on my wave length! You really understand what I am about. Not many people get me, but you do! x
I think they should use whatever they have to even just to protect themselves and those around that individual. There will always be bad cops but for the majority they are fighting a hard battle and I feel do use discretion.
True, though it does depend - wish I was a cop - Denno we could fry eachother
You know in some states, getting tasered is part of police training, so they know how it feels and aren't as likely to use tasers lightly.
We had two deaths here in our city, both from police using tasers. Both were to subdue or calm a suspect who would not obey the officers orders. sadly, both deaths were over a domestic despute, nobody being robbed, no dangerous crime.
One man was tasered repeatedly by several officers, not just one, I heard a total of 22 times. because he would not lay down on the ground when they told him to do it. Not only did they taser him while he was standing, they also tasered him while he was on the ground. probably thrashing around because he was in pain, and they said he was trying to attack them.. Bullshit!
Someone got the whole thing on video, he never had a chance.
needless to say, a lawsuit is pending on that one, as well as
possible charges. But, I heard those have been dropped.
The second guy was fighting with his wife outside of his house.
The police tasered him in the street, and then chased him into his house, and repeated to taser him there, and he had a heart attack and died. We tried to revive him, with no luck.
A taser is designed to taser a suspect enough to weaken him so that he can be taken down, It is the repeated tasers that wind up killing someone, and the police are starting to use the taser
like a club, repeated hits, so they don't have to fight so hard to subdue someone they are attempting to arrest. Not caring or thinking about the outcome of what might happen when they do it.
The city police department says that officers will go through
retraining on how to use the tasers correctly. I got an idea.
the next time you get a domestic dispute, and you can see the suspect is unarmed, give him a chance to understand what he is up against, counting to 3 is not enough time.
If I get tazed its gonna set my defibrillator off and I'm gonna light up like a Christmas tree! I'm thinking that would suck.
Most law enforcement officials are trained to limit due to a possible victims medical condition. Video is everywhere today and many a cop has either been sued, fired, or exonerated. One way to clean up dirty cops is to pass laws putting these convicted cops in a general populated prison. These bullies would think before they do something stupid!

Far too often I see people in the Philippines scrimping on expenses to build their first house by not consulting an engineer. They believe that an architect is sufficient.Do you believe a house can be built with just an architect, or would you insist on hiring an engineer too? Why?
