Is this the barbaric eye for an eye ideology?

When a person murders another person and the State by way of capital punishment, kills that person or the practicing an eye for an eye?

I suppose it is.    And it's an unfortunate but  sound practice in the particular subject of capital punishment.     I would note that in America's legal system,  there are many things taken into consideration----motive, context, individual circumstances, possibility of rehabilitation, mental capacity, repentance, etc.     American doesn't condemn just anyone to death,  only people who've committed very heinous crimes and who are unwilling or incapable of making restitution in some form.

To me it's practicing common sense. Some people do not deserve the air they breathe and therefore should not have tax dollars wasted on keeping them alive. I'm not a bible believer so I don't associate this with the "eye for an eye" scripture.

Its the ultimate punishment for those who commit the ultimate crime.
