Do you feel that the United States of America will go to war with Russia?

It appears to me that we are on the brink of World War III, what do you think?

Its plausible but unlikely... because if it happens it will without a doubt go nuclear...and no government in their right mind wants a nuclear war at the moment...

And Yet, the leaders of this world are not in their "right minds"!

I went through the Cold War. A LOT of saber rattling. No nukes fired at anyone in anger.

Word War III has already started but it is not visible as it neither being fought with arms or armies. No country in the world can think of physical war to annexe boundaries. The present world war III is amongst poor and rich, mighty and the weak but the world community has to think that the richest or mightest individual, society, community or country can rule only if there exists an individual, society, community or country. Can anybody think of ruling dead corpses, deaf and dumb. Unless and until the universal community does not think in terms of "Live and Let Live" or "Principle of Co-existence" World Wars will continue to haunt the mind of present and future generations.

Sure, we are going to be haunted by the possibility of a third world war but we have been down that road before and nothing major happened. There were small wars fought during the Cold War but no nukes flying in anger.

    Not a chance...
Right now America has its hands in so many different cookie jars that Russia is the least of our worries.

I don't think so. Basically the stakes are not high enough for someone in either Obama's camp or Putin's to want to press any red button on a nuclear missile. The situation in Ukraine is dangerous but nowhere near a war between the US and Russia.
The likely outcome is a rumbling civil battle - I wouldn't say war - between pro Russian and anti Russian forces within Ukraine. The possible worst case scenarios for this might be:
Putin keeps Crimea but fails to win the eastern cities in Ukraine - pro Russians leave Ukraine to live in Russia. No interference from western powers, only sanctions and strong appeals.
Putin orders tanks into Ukraine and kills many civilians in the attempt to over-run eastern cities. US and Europe and UN condemn. Heavy sanctions against Russia.
Putin breaks agreements and orders air strikes and ground force invasion. US Europe and UN would have to agree on solution - extreme sanctions, withdrawal of diplomats, isolation policy.

Russia is going through rough times at present - economy not good, oppression of free speech and so on - when the economy turns I see better times ahead but Crimea situation still has to be worked out and further deals done between Ukraine, UN and Russia for the future.

I truly hope Putin doesn't go crazy on us but I think the forces for good are too strong for him to do anything totally stupid.

The Russian people have gone through rough times for the last twenty years. It was hoped that making peace with the West would result in better times. For too many Russians this did not happen.

The USA and her allies are still smarting financially and also in terms of loss of life from Iraq and Afghanistan. The American people would be against the American government plunging them into another war situation.  I believe that is understandable. Besides, what has the USA to gain? What, for that matter, has the Russian people to gain from war with the USA? There has been saber rattling but I doubt very much it will go beyond that. Russia has been heavy handed of late but can be reeled in by other means such as sanctions that hit its purse strings rather than a military confrontation that will get the USA and Russia no where anyone wants them to be.
