I won't claim to know the first thing about economics (IANAE?), but I can't see how the lack of a central issuing authority could be a good thing in any way... yet that's their primary interesting feature. Surely that means they'd not only be unstable, but in fact incapable of attaining any kind of stability without an anchoring point in a "real-world" economy? And that the value will fluctuate wildly day-to-day until it gets pinned down, effectively controlled, by one or more sufficiently large corporations (or other large-scale investors), and turns into exactly the same kind of economic sys
