Should the Mormon Tabernacle Choir perform at Trump's inauguration?
The Mormon Church criticized Trump before the election, but now the official choir of the church is supposed to sing at his inauguration. What gives?
A gig's a gig. They got bills to pay just like everybody else.
Is it really important who performs there? The importance is swearing him in as president.
No, why should they go against their values and belief systems? Last time I looked, the first amendment gave them freedom of religion and speech. If his values go against theirs, they should not be forced into doing something they don't want to do.
Of course they should! It is an honor and way to show their hope and trust in him.
LDS (Mormons) believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring and sustaining the law. This comes from the Article of Faith 12
Apparently the church elders have no problem with it. I can see where some individual church members might, but I gather (from my husband's being a member for a while) that individuals must give way to church authority. Myself, I'm not sure about this. If Pat Robertson had been elected President and the nation's biggest Baptist church choir invited to sing, I'm sure they would have sung, probably under some criticism. However, Trump isn't LDS, but I've seen some commercialism of the MT choir in the past.

I'm not religious, but I just love this choir! Their conductor should be very proud getting them all to sing together so well! And they are the only choir I want to hear at Christmas time, no-one else does it better IMO.

I will have to give some thought to why I have a nagging worry that speaking of attending the Inauguration is bragging, but until then, I am proud that I made the effort.Allow me to set the stage:I am not a Trump supporter, but I am not anti-Trump either. My wife is almost violently anti-Trump. We...

Will the protest march on Trump's inauguration succeed in changing things?Thousands marching in Washington, D.C. to protest Trump's election and inauguration. Can anything good come from this? Will it do more harm than good?

The thread this was in seems to have disappeared. Not sure why.Anyway, for the benefit of those who seem to be in denial, I've outlined some facts about the inauguration.. I've deliberately excluded anything that cannot be objectively determined, and I've contrasted each fact with the claim made by...

As we all know, the clergy is known for working with, consoling and counseling murderers and other hard core criminals in prison who have repented of their sins: Do you truly understand how dreadfully evil and corrupt of the heart and soul an individual must be to receive the ultimate Christian...
