Should the U.S. get rid of our 4-year presidential cycle?

President Trump recently praised Chinese President Xi for his consolidation of power wherein he would be able to be President of China for as long as he lived.

This seems like a really good idea for the United States. If President Trump removed the limitations of our presidential elections and kept himself in power until his death, he would have plenty of time to implement his policies and make America great again. It would also assure us of rational rule in our government for the future and make sure our country is on the right path.

Do you agree or disagree that this is a good idea?

      100 percent pure Bs....

No way, especially with a tyrant like Trump making the suggestion. "President for Life" indeed. Is that standard right wing idealism regarding "effective government"? Is it no wonder that I must oppose them and vote against them consistently.

I'm not sure I understand the word salad you're passing off as communication, but I think it would be so much more efficient if we just did away with presidential elections and appointed President Trump "President for Life" kind of like China has done.

      Stop it!  You're scaring me.

While Trump might do a bang up job for life, he's on up there in years and it wouldn't be long until we got a change.  Maybe another Obama, whereupon the rest of the world will neither respect NOR love us and we can just hand over our wallets each month and then stand there waiting to share whatever tidbit the government decides is good for us this month.

Have to go with Credence on this one - a 4 year cycle seems about perfect.

If Trump were President for Life, then he could just pass the mantle to Mike Pence or maybe to one of his kids, like Donald Trump Jr. I know that respect is very important, so Donald Trump Jr. would probably be our next president in that scenario, so I think I'm for it.

Then you're asking to an end for all democratic processes to pick a President.

No, thank you.  I can't think of anywhere in the world that has turned out well in the long run.

If it meant a guarantee that we'd never have another Obama, then I am supportive of President Trump becoming President for Life.
