This investigation is going off the rail.
Mueller has a short memory. It was a mere 20 years ago that Clinton was impeached...
Dragged the country down the road in a two years distraction...eventually lead to the attack of 9/11.
This obstruction of justice, if exist, does not rise to the “high crime and misdemeaner” charges needed to impeach a president.
Where is Mueller going with this?
If he is smart, he should quit while he is ahead, IMHO.
It is not Mueller's job to decide whether or not to begin impeachment proceedings. He will, in the end, issue a report on the findings of his investigation. Then it will be up to our Congress to decide.
No, it won't. Only half will make the decision - the other half is already slavering for anything that even comes close to a reason to impeach.
You know, you really haven't been paying attention if you believe that. As a strategy for Democrats, impeachment is not highly rated. Trump is already unpopular. Installing Pence as president might give the Republican party a popularity boost.
Impeachment, when viewed purely through the lens of political strategy, might not be the way to go.
Oh I agree that impeachment would be foolish. So is fighting efforts to stop illegal aliens from entering, or staying, in the country. So is disarming the population.
Won't stop the efforts to do all three, though. Anything that even might put the party back into power will be done. Look at what was done by the party to put HC on the ballot - while (possibly) legal it was certainly unethical and immoral. One does not have to do the smart thing to gain political power - only convince a gullible population that it is the right thing.
Except the Clinton impeachment was about a legitimate White House crime. Not a internal government fantasy based and departmental run conspiracy and abuse of the powers of White House ,DOJ, FBI , offices . This comparably is treasonous , conspiratorial and illegal just as the federal court judges are now saying loudly .
That is why I say if Mueller is smart...
The more they keep this going, the more it will hurt the Democrats and the Clintons and perhaps even President Obama.
Mueller is doing the job he was given. He will finish the investigation and release his findings. Simple as that.
Yes but with all investigations there is prosecutorial discretion...
He can choose to drag this out or close it.
With all that transpired at the DOJ ans the FBI, you would think he is smart to know when it is time to wrap it up.
There really is no Russian collusion. The bottom line.
As a professional, I assume he believes the smart time to wrap it up would be when the investigation is complete.
Except that it will never BE complete - there will always be political dirt to "leak" - dirt that will hopefully help the Democrats regain the White House.
The reason you want Mueller to shut down his investigation is you're scared of what he'll find, Jack. Did you and the other Spanky fans raise hell about how long Hillary was investigated? Of course not! Hypocritical a bit aren't you?
No I am pragmatic. It seems when there is nothing there, you stop digging.
With Hillary, there was more there...simple as that.
Are you privy to everything Mueller knows? If so, please let us in on how you have gained such privileged access. We want to know, too.
I only know what is printed and leaked and talked about and the direction the investigation seems to be heading... it is called common sense.
When there is nothing of substance, you drop it unless you have an agenda.
LOL I keep asking Jake for the same thing. Never get an answer, though.
Oh, the folly of anyone saying they "know" what Mueller has found.
Pretty much. Unless we assume that particularly juicy bits will have been "leaked" - a not unreasonable assumption given the state of American politics today.
PP, it never ceases to amaze me how intelligent people can have so little common sense.
Here you have a successful businessman, a successful TV personality...and name recognition...and you are convinced he did something illegal and colluded with Russians to steal an election???
All based on a fake dossier created by a paid ex MI6 agent...and pushed by deep state operatives in the DOJ and the FBI and assisted by a biased media with TDS...
What is wrong with this picture???
Excuse me, please show me where I said I am convinced he did something illegal and colluded with Russia to steal the election? I'll wait. I'll be waiting forever, since I have never said that. I'm waiting for the results of the investigation. Are you?
Your concept of common sense is not as common as you think and would stretch the definition of "sense". Trump is just the sort of person that I would suspect, with the tentacles of his empire, not surprisingly, having great reach.
I am not convinced either way, that is why the investigation should continue until completed. When Mueller says all is complete, that is when I will let Trump off of the hook, not a moment before.
It is so silly of conservatives to say that all these venerable executive agencies have it out for Trump. The excuses they make must be in attempt to shroud some wrong doing.
The problem is that you are seeing your picture through a "fun house" mirror, not very convincing, what?
Credence, the problem is there is not one iota of instance where there is any wrong doing. If there was, I would agree with you to continue. It has been over a year. Where is the smoking gun?
Ain't that the truth sister! Praise the Lord, and pass the ammo.
Huh! And there I thought his "job" was to find out of Donald Trump colluded with the Russian government to fix the election.
Sure, are you privy to all the info he has on the subject? And, "Trump campaign."
What in the world does that to do with straying far, far from the task he was assigned to?
You didn't actually say anything about that, but as far as we know, he is still doing his "job."
Yes, I believe he is. The one the Democratic party assigned him.
I don't think he is still looking for evidence the President colluded with the Russian government to fix the election. That one left the barn long ago and he has moved on from it.
Hmmm, I don't recall the Democratic party appointing Robert Mueller. It was Rod Rosenstein, a Trump appointee, who appointed Mueller.
As for the rest....opinion.
LOL Of course it's opinion. Just as yours is, for neither of us has much idea of what goes on behind the closed doors of that investigation. About the only thing we can say for certain is that some people are being legally hassled for actions they took that are far from anything to do with Russian collusion by the President to fix the election.
Why are you assuming if Mueller found something to do with Spanky colluding with the Russians it would be leaked, Dan? You guys were caught flat footed with the other indictments, Papadopoulis, Gates, Manafort, etc.so Mueller keeps his cards close to his vest. I seriously doubt you, Jack, or horse are any match for his intellect. In fact, I would bet on it!

The Trump investigation by Mueller is sign of a much bigger problem with our justice system. If someone like Hillary Clinton who has committed numerous crimes... can be “exonerated” by Comey and the FBI and DOJ, and a Trump who has been investigated for two years and no crime found and no evidence...

President Trump can't fire Mueller directly. Instead he needs to get the person, Rod Rosenstein, who appointed him (or his replacement) to fire him. If he refuses, Trump can fire him and keep appointing people until he finds one who will. (Nixon did this)While hiring and firing by...
