Should ICE be abolished ?

Protestors and a few politicians have been loudly demanding that ICE (Immigration Customs Enforcement) be abolished citing various reasons.  Some believe that the Democratic platform will adopt the cause soon and campaign to support abolishing it.

Polling shows that most Americans favor keeping ICE - there is no plan being offered to replace the agency and even if it was gone, immigration laws still won't change.

It's just a way to gin-up under-informed voters and hopefully drive them to the voting booth in November.

    Thoughts?

They way I understand it Ralph, some want to abolish the program and replace it with something better, while others want to keep the program and revamp some of the regulations. I think there was a letter signed by ICE employees which criticized some of the tactics used by the Agency.

At any rate, it won't affect the INS at all.

I don't see why we'd need to abolish an agency just to change the agency's mandate.  It's an obvious talking point and not much more.  There hasn't been anything written on the alternative plan, but my guess is that it won't be in full support of existing laws.

It's stupid Democrat nonsense. And it's a way to rally Republicans to the voting booths in November because it's yet another way for Democrats to suggest that they support illegal immigration, which is a losing issue for them if they keep at it.

ICE needs more money and manpower to do the job it's trying to do now.

The woman who scaled the Statue of Liberty demanding ICE be disbanded is from the Congo

There are already calls for her to be deported - she is an immigration activist who attends a weekly hate rally.  She's currently facing a year in jail if convicted.

LIberals simply are raising rhetorical obstructions to the increases seen by ICE operations seen nationwide under Trump ,  You know  ? The very ICE that Obama had under his orders of "standing down "!

Also , there is now new opposition to the "abolishing" factor by leftists worried about one more political backslide for mid terms !

EVERYBODY should know by now that Liberals in America have evolved politically with no apparent knowledge of their own political history ,  for decades now they have bounced in oppositional  stance from one issue to another in mega- short time ,  like a new dance craze that forbids their minds from any "stick to itness" , Today they emotionally hate ICE , tomorrow , next week ,next month ,  next year ICE will be the poster child for liberal cause.

Just the way they roll !

The idea is absurd on the face. If you want more humane treatment of the "poor unfortunates" illegally crossing our border, provide more resources to the area, so they can handle the situation.
Here is an idea: let's "abolish" privately gated communities. Because they are, after all, exclusionally. No more private security firms to run off homeless people who are just looking for a place to sleep on your property. That is the same level of absurdity IMHO.

But Carolyn , Doesn't it make all the sense in the world to abolish the very entity  that controls the nightmare scenario that liberals are spewing ? Little children being swallowed whole by Trump monsters ?   You will never get liberals to come up with real solutions to their own emotional  nightmare other than media screaming and turning on every light in the house .

Whoa Carolyn - bringing common sense to the discussion will likely trigger our liberal friends and they'll need to spend the rest of the weekend in a safe space.
