We know Trump lies all the time. He lies about important things and he lies about stupid things. So yeah, we know he lies. That's now out of the way. Leave the attacks (or absurd defense, for that matter) and the political arguments for other discussions.

    Ok. Now. Serious discussion.

What's up with his "lie" about his father's birth place? He said (multiple times) that his dad was born in Germany. He even said one time "I'm a proud german-american". But records show that his father was born in NY. He dad is of german descent, though.

    - A side note: He used to said (or believe) that his father was born in Sweden but later learned it was a lie his father told so he could do better as a businessman.

Maybe he knows something that nobody knows? But... if he is lying about his dad, the question is why? I have absolutely no idea why would he lie about that.

    Thoughts?

It seems his lies fall into three categories:

      1. He lies to make himself look good.
      2. He lies to please his base.
      3. He lies to denigrate a perceived enemy.

Not sure how this fits into any of those, though I have a theory that is pretty ugly so I won't share it unless some evidence surfaces to support it.

After years helping a father with dementia, I think Trump may have other reasons why he says so many things that are wrong.

His behavior is unusually impulsive and erratic. He may not even realize he is "lying".

He is claiming that both his parents were born in the EU because he appears to think it smooths out his criticism of the EU and European countries in general if he can convince him that he is one of "them." It makes him look less American and more man of the world. (In your dreams, Trump) His mother was born in Scotland, but his father was born in this country to German immigrants. Surely he knows the difference between "father" and "grandfather." Or does he?
