Oh my gawwwdddd! Only 42 minutes into the debate. What a clown show. (yes, I said the same thing about the 17-strong Republican's debates).
Speaking of Monday Morning quarterbacking. . . All of these candidates should be slapping their head saying why the hell did I say that!
Hey! I can speak a Spanish answer. Hey, I think being gay is a plus! Hey, that father and daughter that drowned is an American tragedy! Hey, hey,". . . laying in their own snot and diapers that needed to be changed . . . "
Oh my gawwwdddd! I don't remember, but I bet the Republican primary debates were just as bad, but this first Democrat primary debate is a debacle, and if you want to justify it as just the way the game is played then you deserve what you get.
Geesh.
GA
I haven't heard from Warren yet, but if she isn't thinking Oh my gawwwdddd! what am I into, then she doesn't deserve your support.
Play the game my ass. Somebody has to be the adult in the room. Here is her chance.
GA
I finished watching the debate. My first thoughts haven't really changed, but . . .
It was a terrible format. And the moderators were less than stellar with their questions. No time for the candidates to seriously offer their answers. I guess responding as they did was their only hope of catching a minute or two of attention from viewers.
GA
It is interesting to see the major topics that they are highlighting, and the issues that they are ignoring.
It seems that the 'illegal immigration' issue is an American problem and that we need to care for however many millions of people come to our border and we are responsible for whatever happens to them.
Healthcare is a right and Medicare is the solution, sadly that won't jive with the Medical, Insurance and Big Pharma companies... and so long as they can control enough votes in Congress, there will never be Universal Healthcare for all in any form.
The economy isn't serving the needs of the people, only the rich... except that there are more people employed now, and more raises being given out now, than at any time in the 21st century... in America, its been a long time since things were going this good.
I notice there is no talk about how China is leap frogging over America, leading the world in things like 5G deployment and computer chip manufacturing while also investing tenfold what America is investing into developing STEM and the ability to manufacture cutting edge technology.
Trump's trade war with China came ten years to late, they are capable of continuing in their growth without America now, they are developing their influence in rest of the world, and in ten years time will be far more advanced than we are. Its a monumental issue considering America has NEVER had its equal on the world stage, not in 100 years, let alone a nation whose manufacturing ability and technologies were superior to it.
Ah well, China has landed a spacecraft on the darkside of the moon, is about to launch one to Mars in 2020, has launched quantum enabled satellites (something America has yet to do) part of their unhackable network which is the most advanced in the world... while as a nation we are squabbling over the rights of transgender parents.
Ken, you leave me no choice but to chastise you for ignoring the truth of your previous comments.
You are right, (as you stated before), the Democrat playbook is to pander to segments, (something that is also in the Republican playbook), and the important issues, (like the China problem), are not important in the drive for votes.
Of course, if your comment was a bit of sarcasm I would still chastise you for not taking seriously the moment we are facing.
So consider yourself properly chastised.
Otherwise, I agree with your thoughts. We may well be too late in addressing the China problem. We may well have ignored the technology curve to our own detriment.
I heard recently that American companies are still selling to Hai Wai, [sp?] because of the percentage factors regarding American technology in the products they sell.
It looks like the 5G world we will all be relying on will be a China-controlled one.
The bottom line is that I see most of your points as you do, and I too feel we have lost an important edge and initiative to the sacrificial lamb of social justice perspectives.
We have thrown out the baby with the bathwater. And now all we can do is cry in our milk. (oh gawd . . . that was awful)
GA
I do apologize GA, I should know by now that when I am being facetious in my sarcastic replies it often doesn't transpose to the typed word.
I believe this clip from Tucker's summarization of the Debate is close enough to my own viewpoint, so I will let it stand in its stead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddKQIUsmJpU
I agree Gus, a terrible format, but I don't know what sort of format would have worked well with so many candidates.
Yes, the 2016 Republicans had almost the same problem But I don't recall their time being as limited.
Maybe it would have been better to limit the scope of the questions, (meaning fewer questions), and give the candidates more time to answer.
Also, I think one issue in this debate is that the majority of the candidates' positions aren't so different from each other.
The pundits, (today), are saying Beto took himself out of the race with his poor performance.
GA
Onus, I always feel compelled to 'follow' you, but, I can only do it once, apparently.
lol, Everyone knows the only Dangerous Mentally Warped Circus Clown in politics today is Donald the "JOHN" who needs to be arrested and REMOVED from our oval office IMMEDIATELY along with Kellyanne "CLOWNway", Jared "LOST over a BILLION" Kushner and the rest of the most corrupt white house perhaps in our history:
The Democratic Debate was filled to the brim with top notch, intelligent, STRONG and Very Capable Patriotic Progressive Candidates who will provide HealthCARE for ALL including our children, not try to commit an abominable atrocity by destroying it like retard Bozo Trump, Mutt McConnell and the rest of the Communist Russian Loving Congressional Republicans:
Really Jake? they all just babbled about things that make most American's wonder, are they kidding... How do they think we can afford the giveaways, and better yet who wants them?
I had asked you a bit back. Who will you be blaming it on when Trump wins in 2020? I guess it will be Russia once more?
Unfortunately, a lot of people want those giveaways. It is no different than those that want illegal aliens flooding the country so they can have $5 car washes. Greed, massive greed at the expensive of others, is alive and well in this country.
I agree. Although I feel the candidates promise all the giveaway, and they know when the words leave their lips that they can't deliver on any of the promises. They have no intention of delivering. Whoever is victorious by using the best BS just blame it on Congress for preventing them from making good on their giveaways. And then, you know what happens. We have a turn over in Congress the opposite party takes control, and yes it all starts once again.
However, we have a president that just don't play that game. He bucks them at every turn, keeps the injustice front and center...
I think more citizens are seeing through all the BS, and will swing to voting Republican due to all the crazy socialist ideas this bunch is pushing. They have once again over played their hand.

Before anyone makes a forum about this, who do you think won the vice presidential debate? Did Mike Pence put on a strong performance? Or did Kamala Harris own this debate? Please discuss.

I watched and I was very impressed with Vivek Ramaswamy. I think he would be the perfect running mate for Donald Trump! He was confident and consistently conservative. I do like Tim Scott, but he may be too nice. ?? My favorite Gov fell short, but I still love DeSantis. It is still early...

Perhaps Iowa can help a candidate gain some momentum or conversely lose momentum. But in the grand scheme of things Does Iowa Really Matter to U.S. Presidential Politics? It is not a large or diverse state, and does not represent voting patterns very well. What do you think?
