100 million for golf, 30 million for a parade, all for the guy who made a point to criticize his predecessor for his lavish spending.  Just more GOP hypocrisy, nothing to see here.

Trump was going to be too busy to play golf, remember?  But of course, he was simply joking....

I've never seen any politician lie so blatantly and often. He has no shame or sense of right and wrong.

I must ask you to post a resource of where you got your figures in regards to the cost of the 4th celebration. I have been unable to find the factual cost for the celebration.  I just think when one posts such an inflammatory "blurb" they should back it up with facts.

Here is a link for his golf, one he personally benefits from:  https://presidentialgolftracker.com/

We'll need to wait for the parade figures to come in...

One point that weighs in Trump's favor is international travel:
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_i … ted_States
To summarize this last link since people are hesitant to click on links, Trump has made 14 trips to Obama's 52.

And here is the list of the 79 rallies Trump has held since his election:

I did not dispute that Trump has spent taxpayers money on golf trips.  Please read my comment. As I stated  I just think when one posts such an inflammatory "blurb" they should back it up with facts.  Your statement in regards to the amount spent on the 4th celebration cannot be verified. As you now admitted we need to wait on those costs. I believe your comment claimed that 30 million was spent on the event.

Yes, those were the estimates for his fourth of July event.  You should be able to concede that there was an additional cost to the event that was not previously incurred under previous presidents.  And that his golfing and campaign rallies while serving in office will likely also be the most expensive in history.

Obama will get to keep the title for most expensive in the international travel category.  I'm not one that is so glued to a position that I won't post links that provide evidence contrary to my stand, should I discover them.

This fourth of July celebration was for the country not just the president.  Do you concede that point?  Like I said before, if you're willing to spend billions on illegal aliens, you can spend money on a the United States 4th of July celebration.  Why do illegal immigrants who are breaking the laws mean so much to Democrats?  Why do legal immigrants who obey the laws and follow the process mean so little?  I don't understand.

              1. Valeant profile image76
Valeantposted 5 years agoin reply to this

Considering that this president has a history of attacking those not lined up with his policies in most speeches he gives, it was a hard sell that he'd be able to stay on a message that celebrated the entirety of the country.  To his credit, I believe he did actually stay on message for once, minus the whole airports gaffe.

As for your latest false accusation, it's not so much illegal immigrants that democrats support as it is a question about humanity.  The real question is why do you not care that children are getting sick and dying?  Why are you on board with using the suffering of children as a tactic to reducing people's desire to want to emigrate here?  I find your stance disgusting.

And why do you continue to ignore the figures that contradict your accusation that under the last democratic president, the most amount of illegal immigrants were deported from this country in history.  That dangerous illegal immigrants were targeted among that group to make America safer.  Hardly seems like a party supporting illegal immigration.  It's why you and so many of your ilk are confused by the way your party has framed the issue to meet your hate-filled world view.

There are issues in central america that are causing people to want to emigrate here.  Getting Mexico to stop the flow across their country was a positive step.  Streamlining the evaluation of asylum cases would be another one.  Promoting suffering should not be the American way.

You seem to ignore all of the American children who are suffering because you want to focus on those who are not American citizens.  You care more for them than Americans who are homeless.  Give illegal immigrants free college education and ignore all of the American citizens who have to pay for it.  Put the illegals up in detention centers where they have a roof over their head and are fed and pay for nothing.  Ignore all of the American homeless who live in the streets, can't afford to feed themselves etc.  I find YOUR position disgusting.  Put me down as someone who believes American citizens should come before illegal immigrants.

I know the immigration process.  If they legally go through a port of entry, there is no problem.  Should someone come here and not follow the process legally, they cause their own suffering.  They always have a home to go back to if this isn't good enough for them.  The children suffer because of their parents.  Blame the parents, not the United States.

That's some funny stuff right there.  Because you know which party cuts funding for social programs that support homeless American children?  Yeah, that'd be your party also.  So trying to take some fabricated high ground that your party actually cares for the homeless is a joke.

If you knew the immigration process, you'd know that child separation is not legal and yet continues to happen.  You'd know that this administration was illegally separating children of those making legal asylum claims.  That's not suffering caused by parents, but by a party that has become morally bankrupt, and by people like you trying to sell immigrants as less than human.

If we need a way to cut the costs of US Citizens celebrating the 4th of July in their nation's capital, we can just shave off some money spent on illegal aliens.

“(2) estimates of the national net cost of illegal aliens vary greatly, ranging from $2 billion to $19 billion.”

If you have never been to a 4th of July celebration in Washington DC I recommend it.

Only liberals who have lost what little mind they have would think this is anything other the nation celebrating its independence.

Oh REALLY readmikenow? Those "Illegal Immigrants" you speak of apparently paid more in taxes than Clowny McTrump did for at least a 10 year period that we know of: Donald is a LOAFER, a lazy "Free Grazer" who immigrants supported for YEARS with their tax dollars, and The most prudent and effective way to SAVE Americans BILLIONS upon Billions of dollars is to praise immigrants which your family once was, and toss ole' Donny Boy out on his ears ASAP for his atrocities because consumers are paying more in taxes than we ever have in our HISTORY due to his INSANE Trade War Tariffs:

                Jake, you often humor me.

Lets make a few things clear.

                1. Every member of my family was or is a legal immigrant. We went through the entire process of filling out forms, paying money, sponsoring relatives, getting them jobs, paying money and waiting the necessary time before taking a citizenship test. More than once the forms were lost and we had to pay more money and once again fill out the forms. It only made us more determined.

                2. Nobody from my family ever sought or received governmental financial assistance such as welfare, etc.  My family and our community made certain it was not the case.

I don't have any respect for people who simply cross the border and expect the US taxpayer to take care of them.

I do praise immigrants such as my family.  I am disgusted and repulsed by illegal immigrants.  It's obvious YOU don't know the difference.  People who have come here or have had family members come here legally and gone through the process know the difference all too well.

I always ask liberals who love illegal immigrants so much why don't they sponsor a family?  I think it's because it's easier to come onto social media and say things rather than do things.  I believe if it's not easy, it's not something a liberal will do.  Filling out forms, posting a bond, going to court hearings as well as paying money, finding a job, not getting into trouble with the law.  This is the path for legal immigrants.  They shouldn't be confused with illegal immigrants.

Well readmikenow, let's a get a few things even clearer: I don't believe anyone, especially a Trump follower who says their relatives are documented without seeing documented proof of those statements:

Corporate America, the filthiest of the rich have been placed on "Corporate Welfare" by Clowny McTrump and his Communist Russian Loving Republicans in congress when they passed their INSANE tax cuts which gave TRILLIONS in "Free Stuff" to weirdo Steve Mnuchin and every other filthy rich dreg of society, so don't give me this typical CONservative "Welfare BS": Steve Mnuchin needs a few more mansions and we all get to pay for them: WONDERFUL:

BTW, Americans on welfare paid more in taxes than your cowardly hero Donald did for at least 9 or 10 years that we know of: He must be frightened to death for the public to see any more of his financial info:

Guess what Randy?  When you come here legally and have a sponsor, you don't have to wait in a camp.  That experience is for individuals who don't follow the immigration laws of the United States, just come across the border and want the American tax payer to take care of them.  There is a process in place for people who want to come here legally.  You prove my point.  You can come on here and display your ignorance about the difference between legal and illegal immigration, yet I doubt you will sponsor a single illegal immigrant so they wouldn't have to be in a camp. It's easier to come on here and talk rather than do something. Bless your heart!

And if you think it's a case of "simply" crossing the border, I suggest you go to Honduras, and start walking back without enough money, food or water. Then tell me how simple you find the journey.

And what's disgusting and repulsive is your lack of the most basic level of empathy for other people. I don't care what you think about immigration as a political issue, there's no excuse for hating people because they want a better life. None.

You talk about your family history, and the fact your relatives escaped from danger in the Ukraine, and you were born a US citizen as a result. You know what that makes you Mike? Lucky. So cut the act of superiority.

Give or take a few decades and it could be you sitting in one of these modern day concentration camps, wondering where your children are and who is taking care of them. So show some basic decency for god's sake.

"Flee because you were threatened"...Yes, that would apply to many family members.  It happened at a time when immigration to the United States was much more difficult that it is right now.  Read about Holodomor to know what I am referencing.  Then, there is also the relatives who dealt with life under the USSR.  Yeah, death threats was part of it for many family members.  So, it's not been easy.  I didn't immigrate.  I'm a second generation American citizen.

Your entire argument falls a part unless you grasp the concept between legal and illegal immigrants.

Legal immigrants come through an authorized port of entry into the United States.  They fill out forms and then have an immigration hearing.  During this time, I know this, there are many organizations to help them prepare for the immigration hearing.  Legal immigrants fill out the forms, pay money, have sponsors, obey the laws, learn the language, wait their time with a green card, have jobs and then pass the citizenship test.

Many illegal immigrants come across the border where they feel like.  They expect to be handed everything and taken care of on the US tax payer income.  That or they have a job They have no respect for the United States, US immigration laws and expect handouts.

The left makes this possible since they have no respect for legal immigrants.  They have no respect for those who obey the immigration laws.  They have no respect for U.S. Citizens.

One respects the United States and its citizens, the illegal immigrants respect nothing, not even themselves.

                    See the difference?

Here is something to think about. Many of these people coming across the border are not very honest.

"Rapid DNA testing reveals a THIRD of migrants faked family relationship with children to claim asylum during ICE pilot of the procedure in Texas

ICE ran the pilot for a few days this month in El Paso and McAllen, Texas
About 30% of migrants tested with rapid DNA were lying about familial relations

Migrants with children can claim asylum and avoid detention in most cases "

"In June of 1775, the Continental Congress created a unified Army out of the Revolutionary Forces encamped around Boston and New York, and named after the great George Washington, commander in chief. The Continental Army suffered a bitter winter of Valley Forge, found glory across the waters of the Delaware and seized victory from Cornwallis of Yorktown.

"Our Army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over the airports, it did everything it had to do, and at Fort McHenry, under the rocket’s red glare it had nothing but victory. And when dawn came, their star-spangled banner waved defiant."

It was a molehill hard sun, a simple but hilarious flub, not an "edumucation" factor. However, he might make it into a mountain yet if he doesn't just admit it was a flub, (that is doubtful), and stop trying to justify it.

He said he "knew the speech very well," surely he isn't implying the speech spoke of airports?

As jackclee would say," I just want to help him, to offer advice, Mr. President, just say it was a flub and laugh it off." ;-)

              Dearest Tabatha,

We are now five hours ensconced in a hamlet the locals call Terminal 7. I fear if we don't break camp soon the men will grow restless. We have purchased provisions from a nearby chapel, which appears to be dedicated to a St. Arbucks. We are at the mercy of the weather, as the sky carriages cannot be harnessed in great snow. But do not be concerned, I am in great spirits. We shall quash these local rebels before Christmas, and I will return to you soon after.

              With great affection,
              Wilbur

Is this related to my next response about the Army "manning the air"?

If so you could have included a more identifiable Civil War reference and saved me a look around. ;-)

I guess I can't give him the slack I was tentatively offering.

It's funny no matter how you look at it. I can't watch an entire Trump speech, but I can get through small segments and read transcripts, lol.

Trump also confused the fort where Francis Scott Key penned the Star Spangled Banner with the Revolutionary War, but that wasn't as bad as the "airport" remark.

I would like to point out in your meme is does not mention illegal immigrants.  I suppose on the left this doesn't apply to people who wear a MAGA hat.

Oh, please enlighten me, as only you can Randy, as to how this is an "Ivanka meme."  I don't see the word Ivanka on it.  So, how is this meme tied to Ivanka?  Waiting.

Is it now a requirement that you like the President in order to love your country? That doesn't sound very American. I don't like Trump but I love the flag and even the Betsy Ross flag.

For all of you on the left our there who decry the horrible conditions at the border YOU can now make a difference in the lives of the children you so often come onto HP and pour out your heart with sympathy.

Here is a link to the U.S. Immigration website where YOU can sponsor your own illegal immigrant and provide for them the American dream.  My family has done this so I know all-too-well what is involved.

I'm sure all of you keyboard warriors on the left are willing to step out from in front of your computers screens and get Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, and begin the process.  This is your opportunity to be more than words on the HP website.  Yes, YOU on the left can now show your compassion in real life....if that isn't to scary for you.

"When you sign the affidavit of support, you accept legal responsibility for financially supporting the sponsored immigrant(s), generally until they become U.S. citizens or are credited with 40 quarters of work. Your obligation as a sponsor also ends if you or the individual sponsored dies or if the individual sponsored ceases to be a lawful permanent resident and departs the United States."

    https://www.uscis.gov/greencard/affidavit-support

I can't wait to hear the heart-warming stories from those who complain about what is happening saying how they went to the southern border with the proper forms and took action.  No need to thank me.

    Waiting and waiting and waiting.......

Right after those on the right fill out the form to work for the Border Patrol.  Let us know how the summer heat is down in New Mexico buddy.

I think you missed the point.  I've never complained about the staffing of the border patrol.  The left has complained about the treatment of children and families at the border detention centers.  It is easier to complain than to do something about it.  The left is well known for wanting others to do what they want so they do not have to get involved.  It just shows a lack of courage and conviction and once again proves my point about liberals.

The left is not well know for wanting others to do what they want.  As always, your ignorance to what the left wants is glaring.  The left is well known for wanting the government to use its resources for humanitarian and environmental good.  What your point proves is that the right expects the left to use their personal wealth for government programs, but that the right expects to keep as much of their own for themselves because they don't care about either.

Readmikenowposted 5 years agoin reply to this

I agree.  Freedom from government dependence and bureaucracy is a trait of those on the right.  It's what made people want to come here and start a life.  People wanting dependence on the government are the ones who stayed in Europe and created tyrants such as Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tito and others. They trusted the government more than they trusted themselves.  So, depending on yourself rather than the government to do things has always been more successful.

Guess what?  There is no left or right distinction in the tax code.  The government wastes too much money and is too inefficient to be trusted.  Things need to be done by local citizens on a local level using money they choose to give and is not confiscated by the government.  This works well and eliminates these issues from being made political issues.
