I know this sounds inflammatory but I was thinking, it's interesting. 2 populists candidates emerged. One on the left and one on the right. They support neither.
They are openly hostile to any who support the efforts of the current president. Even with the establishment endorsed current candidate floundering terribly and barely coherent in interviews most still doggedly hold on to hope he can beat the incumbent, they refuse to consider Bernie.
The left (Not counting Bernie supporters) have no vision, no real platform and no agenda other than hatred of Trump.
Why are they so out of step with most Americans? Why does hatred of Trump appear to be the only agenda with no real vision on how to address current issues Americans care about?
Who are "most Americans?" Trump supporters?
Can you supply some supporting documentation for what most Americans "want"? Will you be using polling data or just your own wisdom?
Apparently, "just her own wisdom." But we may be invisible...
Just a thought --- I am not so sure all Democrats are of the same mind at this point. We can definitely say the past three years have created a right and left divide. However, could the past months of the primary caused the Dems to question not only the party just a bit, but the candidates the party has offered them? Yes, it's a given that all the candidates made their dislike for Trump known. But, some Dems could be starting to realizing the candidates may just not have a vision, a platform or agenda they feel confident about supporting.
Just think back to a few of the wonderful Democratic presidents, their platforms, their strong agendas. Can Joe or Bernie even come close to the three previous Democrat presidents?
So to answer your question. In my view, they are not out of step. They have been tripped up by their party. Were all American's, we just have differing visions.
The hatred of Trump is a phenomenon a situation that the left has adopted as an agenda. But, it's an agenda that offers little to American's but bitterness.
So, I think there is disagreement on how to fix things but the populist movement left and right is rising because we are sick of the status quo. Bernie supporters and many who voted for Trump feel Washington is not listening, does not care and is overrun by legislators who do nothing for the people.
We may not agree on the solution but we definitely agree there is a problem. Whereas it's obvious main stream democrats are happy with the status quo.
More or less, I agree. The DNC is broken, completely. I don't think mainstream Democrats are happy with the status quo at all, but prefer the status quo to Donald Trump.
I would argue that Elizabeth Warren had a really good resume. That fact that she couldn't emerge from a pack of white males says something not good about the Democratic Party and society in general.
I don't know. Maybe her resume was good but she is really part of the status quo. I think. I just saw her as trying to decide what coat tail she was going to ride on.
Edit. But, don't you think the fact that Warren couldn't gain enough traction is evidence of my point? Main stream democrats have no vision other than the dream of defeating Trump? Completely out of step with all within either populist movement?
I agree though. I think had they rallied around any candidate but Biden it would make more sense to me.
Democrats in the media appear to want open borders, and middle class Americans have to pay for the world's poor to have healthcare, housing and an education, notwithstanding these things are already expensive for the tax payer's family.
Democrats legislate for affordable housing that is only affordable (nearly free) to the ultra poor, with no support to middle income families who have to subsidize everyone else.
Democrat and Republican homeowners fight at the local county level to prohibit homes and high rise condos and apartments from being built, to keep the value of their own properties high, and exclude everyone else who cannot afford to pay the outrageous costs for a two bedroom home (condos included). Thus hurts of course minorities most if all, making such behavior anti-civil rights.
Democrats can be just as sleezy and selfish as anyone else, and the fake sentiments for immigrants is just that, fake, as some will do whatever it takes to keep these immigrants from living in their neighborhood, and their kids from bringing down their local school ratings (again, home values) due to language barriers and socioeconomic issues. The catch here is that, they are not fooling anyone.
In due time, single family neighborhoods will be associated with the equivalent of the KKK - do we really want that kind of association?
