GOP being led around by the nose by Trump. I think that the GOP attitude about this is dumb. But, you read and you decide.

Children, squabbling in the sandbox.  Something I've said many times before.

IT is baffling why the GOP refused to wear masks while in meetings. It would appear many may not be informed about the possibility of the spread of the virus while in close com=ntact with others.

I have confessed I do not wear a mask unless I am in close proximity to others. I have practiced very good distancing and made those that I come in contact with respect to my distancing practice. Being a nurse for so many years this comes second nature yo me.

However, I have learned in the past week form my own doctor, the virus has mutated into a virus that spreads more rapidly, and is in more cases not showing symptoms to the host. An  A-symptomatic virus can spread quickly due to the host not realizing they are carrying the virus. Although as a rule a virus that shows its host no symptoms is a good sign the virus may have or is mutating to a lesser strain.  Knowing any virus can be more dangerous for the elderly or persons with health issues, I have started wearing a mask in some other situations due to becoming aware I could have the virus be A-symptomatic and spread it more readily.

Perhaps the Republican Congressmen and women should be made aware of the changing virus and how it can spread more easily due to A-symptomatic carriers.

After speaking with my doctor, I feel a bit encouraged that the virus may be weakening in strain, but with the onset of another mutation, it is still unknown if it will be as virulent to any one age group. It seems to be infecting younger citizens at this point and causing less death. The next few weeks should provide new information on the virus. Hopefully, it will be positive.

But for now, science indicates a mask is needed until we know more about the new strain. Plus many that choose not to wear a mask don't keep social distancing. Social distancing is still the best way to keep the spread down.

Oh lordy, lordy, Cred. I can't think of a better comment than the one Wilderness offered; 'Children in the sandbox.'

However, when you think of the decisional responsibility we give to those folks it's not so funny. It's our sandbox they are playing in, and it is looking more like a litter box every day.

No, the childish behavior exhibited by our vaunted "leaders" is not funny.  But your comment about the litter box is spot on.

Politicians cannot advice well on how to prevent a disease or virus spread. That is the function of the WHO and the CDC and P. The public, including the politician must compile. A virus has no special respect to any person or thing.

We all seem to be ignore the political underpinnings that are involved here.

Surely, the Republicans are well aware of the safety risks associated with not wearing masks in their public setting. I am not so naïve to believe that they don't know and only the Democrats do?

The GOP know better, what are they trying to prove? Is it a "Jim Jones" ploy to sacrifice ones very life and well being in deference to King Trump and a message that we should open regardless of the hot spots and death tolls? What is this "damn the torpedoes" attitude? The states the are run by the GOP, my current domicile, Florida, being one, has seen uncontrollable spikes in reported infections. So, here in Florida and Texas, the governors make excuses for statistics that are totally contrary to how they would have them appear.

It is more than a sandbox ploy, it is a stupid and sinister move where they fail to set the example to the millions that look to them for leadership.
