I do feel sorry for all those Trump supporters who believed Trump’s lies and were sucked into his selfish whirlwind.  For those who haven’t heard what Mitch McConnell said, here’s the part that must hurt Trump supporters most .... and will hopefully put an end to the cries of a stolen election.

Trump wasn’t the ‘victim’. His followers are the victims ... of Trump. It is time to accept Biden as your duly elected President.

McConnell: No question Trump is responsible for provoking riot

You're a better woman than I am. I can only feel sorry for a Trump supporter if they were, say, operating at the intellectual level of a child, or maybe those who grew up in an abusive authoritarian environment so think that is normal and proper.

Otherwise, each of them is responsible for their intellectual malpractice. You can see it right here in the forums where a few of them are still defending Trump with their willful lack of knowledge of the facts, twisting and turning every which way to absolve Trump of personal responsibility.

I just can't bring myself to feel sorry for them.

I hear you. But those who relied on Trump tweets, Facebook algorithms and Fox News as their primary sources of information have just spent 4 years exposed to intensive propaganda. They’ve been brainwashed. Media outlets like Fox endorsed Trump’s lies.

I do wonder how much of a shock it is for them to see that Biden is not the incompetent, incontinent, basement-dwelling fictional figure Trump and Fox and others portrayed.

I am genuinely surprised they couldn’t spot the COVID lie a long time ago. Remember when the US had 15 deaths and Trump said it would be gone ‘like magic’?

Yes, I hear you, too. It is beyond my comprehension. I do notice that they simply block out and turn away from any information that contradicts their belief system. I think all of us are tempted to do that sometimes, but those who swallow unfounded conspiracy theories are extra good at it.

Coming from one believing in an unfounded conspiracy theory to overthrow the American government, that sounds a little funny! big_smile

I have never said I believed there was a "conspiracy."  Where did you get that?

Did Trump conspire with his followers to overthrow the government in an "insurrection"?

I have seen no evidence of that. I have seen evidence that he incited the January 6 insurrection.

I was thinking the same thing. I will stay out of this conversation, but I am getting a kick out of it.  Sometimes it's better to sit back and just learn more about the personalities that post on this forum. I find it fun just predicting their sentiments.   The if comes, the bits about Fox News, and Hannity as well now many are adding in Tucker...  It's all getting old. And we really could be having a smorgasbord with Biden/Harris. LOL

The facts appear to be against you. The unrest was planned well in advance of that day.

Trump has always been his own worst enemy but this whole thing was blown way out of proportion for political gain.

Until the left has any sympathy for average Americans who were terrorized by looting, burning and destruction in the other riots last year I have no sympathy for lawmakers who want to pretend they were in danger.

As the left is fond of saying....it was a mostly peaceful protest.

I'm more interested in pursuing the Georgia phone call.

Doesn't the US claim to have some of the best intelligence in the world? If yes, then the president would have known about the "plans", correct? If not it is a problem of intelligence.

If the president knew, he could very easily pick his words to give them a nudge. Not saying this is what happened, just saying that just because there were plans already does not mean that Trump could not embolden them to go on with their plans.

The whole fake election thing peddled by him did not help.

Another beautiful Danism...trying to completely fabricate something to fit his own narrative by referring to Trump's role in the insurrection as unfounded and a conspiracy theory.  Even when we all so clearly recognize that he disregards the entire timeline of evidence from October 2020 to January 6 of 2021.

He hasn’t watched the timeline of evidence. He has, however, watched Fox News I’m thinking, because I’ve been switching between media outlets for years. That’s the narrative presented by the likes of Hannity and Carlson.

I suspect future legal cases will confirm their contribution to promoting the lies. Wonder if Trump’s followers will refuse to watch the evidence there as well.

It's pretty embarrassing. His words could be used in history books as an example of willfully remaining ignorant and uninformed, yet somehow believing he knows the truth. It's like writing a derailed critical review of a brilliant book after reading three pages of it.

Oh, puhleeeze! Really? The Left, the left, the left-right-left. And yes, that's a standard military marching cadence. You think you can excuse that skewed "the left has no sympathy" statement with "Trump has always been his own worst enemy but this whole thing was blown way out of proportion for political gain." I've got news for you. Donald Trump is everybody's worst enemy including yours.

Look what Trump did to the Conservative/Republican Party. He was instrumental in losing every single branch of the U.S. Government inside of four measly years. All Trump gave to his party was to award them the excuse to "Own the Libs". and Oh, they all did it so well.

So well, I might add, that he and his majority of servants so managed to "Trigger the Libs" that they further enraged enough voters to draw out 7 million more that removed Trump as well as the Senate from Republican power.

Yeah, RIGHT, bang up job folks.

And one final thing. I do not comprehend the audacity one must have to place more interest in a phone call than in the sacking of our American Capitol. You didn't state the exact phone call so I will assume it was the one of which there is audio evidence of Trump saying  "I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state." of course you can't find votes that don't exist and would be illegal for Georgia State officials to create them.

The left, the left, the left WRONG right. I fear that is the new Republican Party marching orders. Case closed, Bro.

    Sincerely,
    The Masked Marauder.
